Big Government bureaucrats in Washington would effectively be able to tax businesses for emitting more carbon dioxide than they think is “appropriate.”

And don’t think for a second they won’t send around federal jackboots to make sure you’re complying.

In fact, the Cap and Tax Bill SPECIFICALLY AUTHORIZES just such intrusive home visits by government snoops, empowered to sniff around your basement, climb into your attic and search your closets.

And that’s not all.

You see, Cap and Tax is just another excuse for Big Government to reach their greedy little hands deep into our wallets.

If passed, Cap and Tax would:

*** Increase taxes by $650 BILLION, virtually guaranteeing that our economy gets even worse and NEVER recovers;

*** Result in over ONE MILLION lost American jobs per year as energy-intensive industries are forced to shut their doors or move overseas;

*** Allow Big Government politicians to decide which businesses get taxpayer subsidies and which ones are shut down, virtually guaranteeing massive corruption on a scale we’ve never seen before in the United States.

And don’t believe the lies. This bill has nothing to do with the environment.

In fact, the best experts agree Cap and Tax will have almost zero impact on the environment anyway -- except, of course, for lost jobs, higher taxes, and blighted small towns and rural communities.

So what is Cap and Tax really about?

Raw government POWER.

And government POWER to control the economy, our lives and our freedom.

Just take a look at Spain -- the Cap and Taxers’ “shining” example of an eco-socialist paradise.

In Spain, for every new “green” job created (at a taxpayer cost of $800,000 EACH mind you), 2.2 economically-productive jobs are destroyed!

The fact is, passage of Cap and Tax could send our economy nose-diving off a cliff!

So it’s never been more important that you act TODAY.

The good news is, Campaign for Liberty has a plan to fight back.

They’re nervous because we’ve come a long way in stopping their assaults on our liberty.

So now, in this latest fight, many Senators are riding the fence.

They’re afraid of what YOU’LL do to them if they vote to ram Cap and Tax into law.

So today, our job is to KNOCK those Senators off the fence and squarely onto our side by sending this one very LOUD and very CLEAR message to the U.S. Senate . . .

. . . Any politician who votes FOR Cap and Tax should look for another job.

As you may or may not know HR 1207, the "Audit the Fed", bill is now in committee and we need to step our support efforts to get this thing to a vote on the floor.

Ron Paul's bill to Audit the Federal Reserve Bank, HR 1207, has now garnered 55 co-sponsors and has been referred to the House Committee on Financial Services. This is a major development.

The bill will now be debated and voted upon in the Committee and will then either go to the House for a debate and vote or will be defeated. MOST BILLS DIE IN COMMITTEE FOR LACK OF SUPPORT. There is no way to know how long it will stay in Committee. That means it's all up to YOU. It's a major step forward for our movement to get the House to even consider a bill which questions the autonomous authority of the Fed. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) each received more than a million dollars in contributions from health professionals and the pharmaceutical industry since 2000, and each sponsored industry-favored amendments in the stimulus bill that would undermine patient privacy, the Washington Post reported. Campaign contributions will ultimately determine how centralized health data is used. "

However, Bailout Blunt and his "pay-to-play" style of "Representation" isn't even the worst of the news...

"The ultimate goal of the Obama program is "the utilization of a certified electronic health record for each person in the United States by 2014," as the stimulus legislation states. But having a massive electronic database will make it far easier for the government to coerce both doctors and patients. This is a peril as bad as or worse than the Patriot Act. "

C4L Staffer Detained in St. Louis - Video Goes Viral

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Campaign for Liberty’s very own Steve Bierfeldt has become an unexpected Internet sensation -- and the latest target of over-reaching federal government agents.

You see, Steve was detained by Airport Police and TSA officials shortly after the Campaign for Liberty regional conference in St. Louis.

The officials rudely berated and harassed Steve for 30 minutes in a secluded room at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Fortunately, Steve was able to record nearly all of the interrogation with his cell phone.

Steve’s alleged “crime”? Carrying $4,700 in checks and cash from Campaign for Liberty, along with various other materials from our conference.

The local and Federal agents harassed Steve. They were belligerent, cursing and using insulting language. They threatened to turn Steve over to the DEA and the FBI, all the while refusing to inform him of his legal rights or explain how cash and checks threatened airplane or airport security.

Throughout the interrogation, Steve remained polite but resolute and declined to answer the invasive questions without an adequate explanation from these federal and local agents as to why they needed to be answered. Without telling Steve what law he was accused of breaking, they continued their harassment.

Although they grew increasingly frustrated that he remained committed to exercising his rights, intervention from another officer eventually led the police to reluctantly release Steve.

Last Wednesday, Steve appeared on Judge Napolitano’s Freedom Watch to discuss the flagrant violation of his rights and to promote the importance of each of us defending our civil liberties.

Now, Steve’s appearance on Freedom Watch – which features several minutes of the audio tape – has gone viral.

Steve’s ordeal is a reminder to all patriots that liberty is constantly under fire, and we must remain vigilant and prepared to stand up for our rights.

Since I just lambasted FauxNews (a.k.a. FoxNews) in my previous post, in the interest of fairness I'll give them a tiny bit of credit for their new (Internet-only) program:

The "Judge" in this case is Judge Andrew Napolitano, and his guests regularly include Ron Paul, Lew Rockwell, & Peter Schiff - among other less-distinguished commentators that you'll have to try hard to endure at times. While I have reservations about anything FauxNews does, at least now that Emperor George II is gone, they've returned to being the so-called "opposition" MSM (the role formally held by CNN during W's reign of terror). And it is telling that they DON'T dare air these patriots' opinions on their TV network - and practically hide it on their website - and from what I've seen I'm guessing the show's budget is less than $100/per episode (bad audio and amatuer-quality production abound - just see for yourself what I mean). So don't get too excited that Faux has come around all of a sudden, but tune in (or catch the replays on YouTube)... This week's simulcast with the Alex Jones show was interesting so be sure to watch it here.

Imagine for a moment that somewhere in the middle of Texas there was a large foreign military base, say Chinese or Russian. Imagine that thousands of armed foreign troops were constantly patrolling American streets in military vehicles. Imagine they were here under the auspices of “keeping us safe” or “promoting democracy” or “protecting their strategic interests.”

Imagine that they operated outside of US law, and that the Constitution did not apply to them. Imagine that every now and then they made mistakes or acted on bad information and accidentally killed or terrorized innocent Americans, including women and children, most of the time with little to no repercussions or consequences. Imagine that they set up check points on our soil and routinely searched and ransacked entire neighborhoods of homes. Imagine if Americans were fearful of these foreign troops, and overwhelmingly thought America would be better off without their presence.

Imagine if some Americans were so angry about them being in Texas that they actually joined together to fight them off, in defense of our soil and sovereignty, because leadership in government refused or were unable to do so. Imagine that those Americans were labeled terrorists or insurgents for their defensive actions, and routinely killed, or captured and tortured by the foreign troops on our land. Imagine that the occupiers’ attitude was that if they just killed enough Americans, the resistance would stop, but instead, for every American killed, ten more would take up arms against them, resulting in perpetual bloodshed. Imagine if most of the citizens of the foreign land also wanted these troops to return home. Imagine if they elected a leader who promised to bring them home and put an end to this horror.

Imagine if that leader changed his mind once he took office.

The reality is that our military presence on foreign soil is as offensive to the people that live there as armed Chinese troops would be if they were stationed in Texas. We would not stand for it here, but we have had a globe straddling empire and a very intrusive foreign policy for decades that incites a lot of hatred and resentment towards us.

According to our own CIA, our meddling in the Middle East was the prime motivation for the horrific attacks on 9/11. But instead of re-evaluating our foreign policy, we have simply escalated it. We had a right to go after those responsible for 9/11, to be sure, but why do so many Americans feel as if we have a right to a military presence in some 160 countries when we wouldn’t stand for even one foreign base on our soil, for any reason? These are not embassies, mind you, these are military installations. The new administration is not materially changing anything about this. Shuffling troops around and playing with semantics does not accomplish the goals of the American people, who simply want our men and women to come home. 50,000 troops left behind in Iraq is not conducive to peace any more than 50,000 Russian soldiers would be in the United States.

Shutting down military bases and ceasing to deal with other nations with threats and violence is not isolationism. It is the opposite. Opening ourselves up to friendship, honest trade and diplomacy is the foreign policy of peace and prosperity. It is the only foreign policy that will not bankrupt us in short order, as our current actions most definitely will. I share the disappointment of the American people in the foreign policy rhetoric coming from the administration. The sad thing is, our foreign policy WILL change eventually, as Rome’s did, when all budgetary and monetary tricks to fund it are exhausted.

Sen. James Alexander Reed of Missouri was one of the titans of the isolationist, individualist Old Right—though, like others of that cohort, he did not think of himself as either “old” or “right.” He belongs in the company of senators like William Borah of Idaho, Burton Wheeler of Montana, and Thomas Gore of Oklahoma, Jeffersonians all and implacable foes of the concentration of power in big government or big business. Today, apart from the James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area outside Kansas City, Reed is little remembered. But in his time he was a leading opponent of Woodrow Wilson, the Versailles Treaty, the League of Nations, Prohibition, conscription, religious intolerance, tariffs, taxes, and the New Deal. True to the progressive politics of his era, he also sought to bust trusts and limit campaign expenditures.

H.L. Mencken was a friend and admirer. Oswald Garrison Villard, libertarian editor of The Nation when such a thing was possible, likened him to Andrew Jackson: “the latter also a bold, handsome, swashbuckling, hard-drinking roistering, dueling leader of men, of much the same political viewpoint.” Other contemporaries compared his eloquence to that of Daniel Webster, John C. Calhoun, and Henry Clay. Jim Reed, as he was known to voters and colleagues alike, was a force.

When Reed retired from the Senate after 18 years in 1929, Mencken proclaimed it a “wonder that he survived so long in the Senate” and doubted that this was due to “any extraordinary acumen in his fellow Missourians: they show the normal American weakness for charlatans.” Here the Sage of Baltimore was only half-right. Missouri, after all, produced Mark Twain, another man Mencken much admired and the greatest scourge of charlatanism America has seen. Missourians fall for their share of quacks. But they also have a sense of realism and skepticism uncommon even for the Midwest, as symbolized by the state’s nickname, the Show Me State. Reed was a true son in spirit of the land of Mark Twain and Josey Wales.

Fittingly, the only biography of Senator Reed that has yet been written, Lee Meriwether’s Jim Reed, Senatorial Immortal, was originally published by the International Mark Twain Society in Webster Groves, Missouri. It has now been brought back into print through the good offices of Kessinger Publishing of Whitefish, Montana, a company that specializes in rescuing rare books from the national memory hole. (One hopes Kessinger , or a larger publisher, will provide the same service for Villard’s Prophets True and False, which includes his take on Reed.) Meriwether became fast friends with the senator in 1918, when Reed took on the State Department to get Meriwether’s War Diary of a Diplomat published. After Reed’s death in 1944, his widow asked Meriwether to write the biography. (Nell Reed was a remarkable figure in her own right, a women’s garments manufacturer once hailed by Fortune as perhaps the country’s most successful businesswoman.)

Meriwether writes sympathetically and engagingly of his friend. Even as a humble farm boy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Reed made a name for himself as an orator. In 1880, he was to give a graduation speech to his class at Cedar Rapids High School. But the topic he chose, “Free Thought,” was unacceptable to the principal. When Reed refused to rewrite the speech, the principal denied him his diploma. According to Meriwether, “This episode had a profound effect upon his whole later life,” confirming Reed in his commitment to religious liberty. “Jew baiters, anti-Catholics, Ku Klux Klanners—all were to become the targets of his eloquent denunciations.”

Scandal of a different sort precipitated Reed’s move to Kansas City. At 26, he fell in love with a married older woman, Lura Olmstead. She divorced, he married her, and they left Iowa. Missouri, with its alloy of Western individualism and Southern grace, proved a more forgiving place, and Meriwether paints a vivid picture of K.C. as a “town of 30,000 where the West met the East with frontier abandon.” Reed entered politics almost by accident after stumbling upon a meeting of the American Protective Association. “I was amazed,” he recounted to Meriwether, “to hear speaker after speaker hiss hatred for all Jews, Catholics and Negroes,” and given the opportunity to address the gathering, he told them exactly what he thought of such bigotry. Word spread quickly: the people of Kansas City appreciated this newcomer’s courage and principle. They soon made him public prosecutor—he won 285 out of 287 cases brought to trial; one of the two that got away was Jesse James Jr., politically connected son of the famous outlaw—then mayor. In 1910, he won election to the U.S. Senate.

Meriwether’s account of Reed’s early years in the Senate leaves much to be desired. Perhaps because memories of the Good War were still fresh when he wrote Jim Reed, Meriwether says little about the senator’s views on World War I. Unlike Missouri’s senior senator, William J. Stone, one of just five senators to oppose the war, Reed voted for Wilson’s war declaration in 1917—though unlike Stone, Reed voted against imposing conscription once the resolution passed. Villard suggests that Reed “fought a losing fight against the manoeuvres which eventually led the United States into war”; afterward, Reed valiantly opposed wartime censorship and rationing. (He mercilessly mocked the Food Administration’s Herbert Hoover, who spent much of the war in London, as “Sir Herbert Hoover” and “that great British statesman.”)

Compensating for the dearth of detail about Reed’s role in World War I, Meriwether has several chapters on the senator’s campaign against the League of Nations and the Versailles Treaty. Reed was one of only five senators to oppose the League from the outset (the others being Borah, Hiram Johnson of California, Frank Brandigee of Connecticut, and Charles Thomas of Colorado). “Were we a League member we would be bound by treaty to enter every war that may occur anywhere in the world,” he warned. He had vexed Woodrow Wilson before, but this was too much. Reed and his allies defeated the League, so Wilson, even after his term as president ended, tried to defeat Reed. Wilson supported a primary challenge against him in 1922, and many Missouri Democrats sided with the party leader against their own senator. The League of Women Voters, which considered Reed an enemy of women’s suffrage and child-labor regulation, targeted him as well, forming “Rid of us of Reed” Clubs. The Anti-Saloon League and Ku Klux Klan piled on, but Reed won the primary, then won the general election by a bigger margin than the last time. All Wilson could deny his nemesis was a seat at the Democratic National Convention in 1924.

Reed’s third term was to be his last. In 1928, disgusted by Prohibition and colleagues who “vote dry and drink wet,” he announced his retirement. After leaving office, he did what even then was highly unusual for a national politician: He went back to where he came from. “I want to live in Missouri,” he told Meriwether, “there never has been a moment in Washington that I have not felt that I was away from home.” Ten thousand of his fellow Missourians turned out to meet him at Kansas City’s Union Station on March 9, 1929, his homecoming.

That was no end to his public life. As a lawyer, he took part in some of the most sensational cases of the day, including an antitrust suit against the motion picture industry (he defended Harry Warner and won) and a $30,000,000 suit against Standard Oil and Shell (he got $25,000,000 for his client). He won acquittal for a woman who had shot her husband dead, in full view of witnesses, at a card table. And he had a hand in rescuing Nell Donnelly, who was to become his second wife after Lura’s death, when she and her chauffeur were kidnapped. In failing health, he returned to the political circuit to speak against Franklin Roosevelt. His last public talk, in 1944, the year he died, was on “Common Sense in Government.” Contrasting New Deal paternalism to the old Republic’s individualism, he declared: “Common sense government does not undertake to create impossible Utopias or waste its energies in vain attempts to remake the world, or to alter the course of human nature. It deals with conditions as they exist; it seeks in a practical way to produce the best possible result with the materials at hand.”

There is no more conservative credo than that. Jim Reed’s wisdom has been little heeded. But Kessinger Publishing has at last given this great Missourian a chance to be heard again—if only we will listen.

Right now, Americans are looking for answers as our nation undergoes another economic crisis. One really can't see the voluntaryism of anarcho-capitolism working, because it depends on human nature and the strength of culture to replace the total state.

Currently we live under what the late philosopher Sam Francis called a centralizing anarcho-tyranny.

There is no rule of law, because the men in black skirts interpret the law to their own satisfaction.

Laws, particularly the Constitution, exist to protect the people, not promote issues or enhance the stature of politicians.

We actually call politicians "law-makers," as if that were their job.

So we live in tyranny with laws that have no means of enforcing themselves.

The well-known philosopher and science fiction writer, Jerry Pournelle writes,

"We do not live by rule of law, because no one can possibly go a day without breaking one or another of the goofy laws that have been imposed on us over the years. No one even knows all the laws that apply to almost anything we do now. We live in a time of selective enforcement of law."

The managerial state replaces the whole of society and makes it all a part of the state. The state controls our schools and highways, what we eat, watch and listen to.

It has become our life.

Take Joe the Plumber. The Corporate Media sneers at him, because he has no plumber's license.

Why does a piece of paper make him a plumber, in their eyes? Because that piece of paper comes from the state, instead of from the local community which employs him.

The state is sacred to the Media, just as culture, religion and nationality used to be sacred to all Americans.

In order to win, we must escape the shackles of the centralizing, Internationalist state, by defunding it, deprogramming ourselves and assisting our fellow Americans in doing the same.

It will take years of patient toil to regain the sovereignty of the states, and the cut the empire of D.C. down, at the knees.

We cannot win straight out elections, even on a local level, because the government, party system and the media are all against us. But we can win on ballot initiatives like the Eminent Domain issue. State bureaucrats knew this and feared a win in November, which is why they were so eager to stifle the petition on a slight technicality.

There is currently an online petition to end the personal property tax, which we hope will soon be approved by the MO SOS office.

Running for minor offices, some of them non-political like the up-coming Cooperative Extension Council elections, will gain advantages for us, because these are elections which we can win.

We can win on taxes. We can win ending the party system and re-instituting the rule of law. We can win on stifling bureaucracy and re-building community and localist culture.

The American people, especially the younger generation, are tired of the two parties and their pretensions.

It will be a long, ugly knifefight, but we can at least achieve parity and some concrete results. Big Government's adherents have only limited stamina and have never faced a serious challenge before.

As members of the Campaign for Liberty, we should probably be considering our long term goals.

We cannot yield to nostalgia, and try to make things as they once were. Turning back the clock won't accomplish anything, because time always goes forward anyway.

Some practical goals, one might venture to suggest, are as follows.

1. Implementation of the genuinely free market Austrian System of Economics. The Free Market Theory of Economics and Banking championed by Ron Paul, has NEVER been tried before.

2. Ending the Political Party System

3. While one cannot see the practicality of eliminating the Constitution, one must note that many of the Found Father's feared that it was too weak a Document and time has proven them correct.
The Constitution has been relentlessly trampled upon, since 1800 and is in need of an over-hauling in order to strengthen it.
One would not suggest that the Constitution should be changed in event of another Constitutional Convention, but that its language should be made strengthened and made impermeable to attack.

University Extension and N.A.I.S.

Which produces the interesting question, who determines and, or, what is “sustainable agriculture?”

However, we might briefly consider the role of Cooperative Extension in furthering N.A.I.S.

Cooperative Extension, as an arm of the U.S.D.A. was in the forefront of the N.A.I.S. implementation effort.

There are a great number of people who are opposed to, or only grudgingly accept of, the National Animal ID System.
It is worthwhile convincing them that it is possible to stop N.A.I.S. by means of the Extension Council.

Formerly, Extension Councils were conditioned, by University “experts” to accept the National Animal I.D. system as a matter of course.

"A few weeks ago I attended a meeting of Kansas secessionists. The participants were rowdy, complaining of economic gigantism squashing them flat and bureaucratic thugs hounding their every move. They were all sick and tired of worker-ant existence in the hive-mind of American groupthink and they wanted out. Despite the quintessentially political nature of the gathering, politics proper never came up. Conservative and liberal meant nothing in that room, and party affiliation even less.

Kansas patriots fomenting disunion? No, though there are a few of those kicking around these parts. These were local farmers organizing a farmer’s market. I had offered the parking lot of my law firm for their use, and was mostly just an observer of the scene. The locals probably couldn’t tell you the first thing about the politics of secession, but the Spirit of ’76 showed up in force. Damned were the federal busy-bodies who tell local farmers what they can and can’t sell; condemned were the centralized agents of agri-business who want ID chips implanted in livestock; mocked were the credentialed witch-doctors from the department of agriculture who own the brand “organic.”

All that was left undone was a patriotic march to the local Enormo-Mart to dump the limp and faded out-of-season tomatoes imported from South America into the local pond (which isn’t quite Boston Harbor, but it would have served). And while there was no Declaration, it was clear that these small growers wanted out—out of forced participation in the economic union of cheap mass production, central planning, credit money, and the ignorant consumerism they despised."

The AP just released an article saying that you were "...particularly heartened by indications the legislation has become more appealing to constituents back home."

You and I know that isn't true - far from it. Especially now that the shock is over, and the stock market rebounded (all as expected), people are AGAINST any sort of bailout - no matter if you cloak in terms of "rescue" or hide it in other bills.

Listen to your constituents and represent them as your oath demands. NO BAILOUTS of ANY kind. Corporations that make bad decisions must be allowed to fail - no matter what the temporary hardship. That is capitalism. Bailouts are nothing but a combination of a socialist/facist nightmare, and are as un-American as the Kremlin and the Red Star. You should know that.

Ron Paul officially endorses Charles Baldwin of the Constitution Party for President in 2008.

I voted for Peroutka & Baldwin on the CP ticket for President in 2004, and I had already decided to vote for Baldwin/Castle in November - since writing in Ron Paul isn't an option here in Missouri.

So speaking personally, I'm glad he made this move. And I'm also gratified that Dr. Paul's press release makes his reasons for doing so perfectly clear. I hope that even former supporters of the Barr campaign will understand why it was done.

What I don't know right now is what real difference this endorsement by Dr. Paul will make in the long run; as the brainwashed masses still mistakenly believe they must either "vote for or lesser of two evils" or "pick the winner of the horserace" rather than pick the best person for the job. Just de-programming the average ignorant voter is the real challenge we face in the coming years.

Our first meeting of the Ozarks Property Rights Congress in Barry County was not well-attended, but neverthless, I think we're off to a good start.

On Friday, I spoke with Mrs. Angela Basham, the lady who has organized a Petition to End Personal Property Tax in the State of Missouri.
So far the petition has gained over 13,518 signatures online, with not advertising or activism.

The Secretary of State's office is dragging its feet about approving this issue, but we hope to begin collecting official signatures, after the November elections.

Hopefully we will see the petition to eliminate most features of Eminent Domain, on the ballot, next year as well.

To quote Barry Obama's speechwriter,

"Yes we can."

I hope to visit the McDonald County Chapter of the OPRC next month and talk about this movement to end the property tax in Missouri.

The US federal government is working on a sweeping series of programs that would represent the biggest intervention in financial markets since the 1930s.

Few exact details of the plan have been revealed, but it essentially involves creating a new government agency that could soak up all the bad assets that are bringing down US financial firms.

In his press conference he made three major points:

1. A large number of people do not want a McCain or Obama presidency - collectively we are a political force.

2. All four of his suggested third party candidates have 4 positions in common; bring the U.S. troops home; protect our civil liberties, investigate the Federal Reserve and balance the federal budget.

3. Any of the four candidates would be better than Obama or McCain as president of the United States.

Currently, our large group of disenfranchised voters is not focused on one candidate to rally behind. So... What should we do?

Bob Barr, the Libertarian Party's nominee for president, has filed a lawsuit in Texas demanding Senators John McCain and Barack Obama be removed from the ballot after they missed the official filing deadline.

A 2006 Texas Supreme Court decision ruled that state laws "does not allow political parties or candidates to ignore statutory deadlines."

Missouri gets an glowing “F” on Sunshine compliance

Jean Maneke, the Missouri Press Association’s legal counsel, writes in the December issue of Missouri Press News that the state fails miserably when it comes to appealing denials of sunshine requests. That should come as no surprise to anyone who has tried to appeal a a denial. The failing grade comes from a survey of all states and is available http://nfoic.org/newsw/bag/overview.html.

Not only does the survey indicate that there’s no alternative than a clogged court system available to the public, but that if and when an appeal is ever successful, the penalty is simply a civil one.

“That’s a sad commentary on the status of our state’s open meetings law, ins’t it?” she opines. Sad indeed.

The Barry County Chapter of the Ozarks Property Rights Congress will be holding its first meeting on September 20th, 2008, at 4 p.m. in the community room of the Cassville Branch Library.

This meeting is intended to be organizational in nature, but we also will also be introducing several Topics for discussion which we hope to take concrete action upon, in the immediate future.

1. Understanding local government policy, taxation and functions.

2. Understanding the chain of boards and committees which sustain this structure and how we can become a part of, and eventually take over these important organs of local government, by beginning at the school board, and Central Committee level.

3. How we can effectively eliminate local taxes without affecting the financial structure of the local governments public institutions which these taxes supposedly support.

Remember Nueces - Several Texas grassroots activists including the delegate patriots in Nueces County have decided to CONTINUE TO FIGHT the abuses that occurred at the Nueces County Convention and were perpetuated by the Texas Republican Party at the State Convention. On September 2nd, at the University of Minnesota's Williams Arena, the message of freedom and the Constitution will be shouted from the rooftops. We'll hear from top-notch speakers, musicians, and organizations who share our message. (We've already revealed a few of them, with many more to be announced in the coming weeks.) We'll stand up for the principles of limited government, individual liberty, and respect for the Constitution that were once the hallmarks of the Republican Party.

And we'll have a great time.

Our program in the Twin Cities will be unforgettable. With your help, this can be the biggest event the freedom movement has ever seen.

Become Vocal Local is on the air!

Will Roberts, one of our own Ozark neighbors, now has his own daily one hour radio broadcast on the Republic Broadcasting Network, and it is called "Become Vocal Local."

You can listen in live Monday through Friday from 1:00-2:00 PM, or if you are unable to tune in at that time (or you miss a show) you can listen to a previous show's archive anytime it is convenient for you.

Listeners will become more aware and better educated about important events, and it also offers you something much more important... Real solutions.

This program is unlike the multitude of common "chat & complain" talk radio broadcasts, (which are frequently very informative and enjoyable - though exist largely for hosts & callers to vent their frustration at the latest government acts of tyranny). Instead of merely pointing out and discussing the latest outrages being perpetrated upon us, the "Become Vocal Local" program offers real and easily implementable solutions that can work anywhere in the United States of America.

The show introduces, discusses and clarifies Will's longstanding and tested methods to get voters "Vocal Local" on a precinct-by-precinct basis. A Letter From Ron Paul

Dear Supporter,

These past 17 months have been among the most exciting and eventful of my life. Together you and I delivered a message of freedom the likes of which American politics had not seen in decades. I wasn’t sure the country was ready for it. But it was a message, I discovered, that many Americans had been waiting for a long time to hear.

I have been blessed with the most informed, well read, and enthusiastic supporters of any presidential campaign. Your extraordinary efforts in organizing and fundraising grabbed the attention of millions of Americans and shocked just about everyone in politics and the media. I still cannot get over all the fantastic work you did.

Something of great significance has just occurred in our country’s history.

With the primary season now over, the presidential campaign is at an end. But the larger campaign for freedom is just getting started. Therefore, I am happy to announce the official launch of the Ron Paul Campaign for Liberty.

The work of the Campaign for Liberty will take many forms. We will educate our fellow Americans in freedom, sound money, non-interventionism, and free markets. We’ll have our own commentaries and videos on the news of the day. I’ll work with friends I respect to design materials for homeschoolers.

Politically, we’ll expand the great work of our precinct leader program. We’ll make our presence felt at every level of government, where just a few people with our level of enthusiasm can make a world of difference. We’ll keep an eye on Congress and lobby against legislation that threatens us. We’ll identify and support political candidates who champion our great ideas against the empty suits the party establishments offer the public.

We will be a permanent presence on the American political landscape. That I promise you. We’re not about to let all this good work die. To the contrary, with your help we’re going to make it grow – by leaps and bounds.

This is the most ambitious venture of my political career, and I think it can achieve great things. But I can’t do this alone. I need you to help me. I need your energy, your creativity, your ideas, and your dedication.

People frustrated with our political system often wonder what they can do. I have founded this organization to answer that question, to give people the opportunity to do something that really makes a difference in the fight for freedom. Please join me by becoming a member of the Campaign for Liberty. Our goal is 100,000 members by September. Can we reach it?

Our campaign netted 1.1 million votes in the primaries of a shrinking Republican Party. Millions more support us. I need you to help me reach them – and to keep making new converts to the cause. What a force we can be, if only we rise to the occasion.

Now what about the Republican Convention in St. Paul? Our delegates will attend, of course, and I expect our contingent to have a visible presence there. This brings me to my second announcement. I invite you to join us at Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota on Tuesday, September 2nd, for a grand rally. We intend to draw over 11,000 people. We’ll have live music and entertainment, and special guests. I’ll address you all as well. A massive rally will generate still more interest in our ideas. And what a great time it will be.

Remember that it was Senator Robert Taft, who shared our views, who was called Mr. Republican. But we are not merely the Republican Party’s past. If the enthusiasm of young people for our campaign is any indication, we are also its future.

Right now I will need your patience and input as we develop our program and assemble just the right team of individuals. But it is my intention to launch the Campaign for Liberty in its full capacity at our rally in Minneapolis this September.

Over the past week we’ve learned that the Democratic presidential nominee, supposedly an antiwar candidate, is committed to the same rhetoric, the same propaganda, and the same aggressive intentions toward Iran as the Bush administration. As usual, the major parties refuse to offer Americans a real choice.

The Campaign for Liberty will lay the groundwork for a different America, the kind of America you and I, and millions of our fellow countrymen, want to inhabit.

“Dr. Paul cured my apathy,” a popular campaign sign read. Others said our campaign cured their cynicism. We have now reached a moment of great moral decision: will we let ourselves retreat into apathy and cynicism once again, or will we dig in for the long haul and fight all the harder? Will we retire from the scene quietly, or will we give the establishment the fight of its life?

“In the final analysis,” I wrote in my new book The Revolution: A Manifesto, “the last line of defense in support of freedom and the Constitution consists of the people themselves. If the people want to be free, if they want to lift themselves out from underneath a state apparatus that threatens their liberties, squanders their resources on needless wars, destroys the value of their dollar, and spews forth endless propaganda about how indispensable it is and how lost we would all be without it, there is no force that can stop them.”

The time has come to act on these words. May future generations look back on our work and say that these were men and women who, in a moment of great crisis, stood up to the politicians, the opinion-molders, and the establishment, and saved their country.

Ron Paul coming to Branson May 30th

If you're on Ron Paul's national email list, then you probably have received a letter from Ron Paul stating that he will be at the Branson Rally on May 30th.

The rally will be held at the Tri-Lakes Center in Branson, Missouri. This facility seats over two thousand and is eleven minutes from the Chateau on the Lake where the Republican convention will be held.

Seating will begin at six o'clock p.m. and Dr. Paul's speech will commence at 6:30 p.m.

After his speech, Dr. Paul will be on hand, to meet and greet folks, and sign copies of his new bestseller.

Organizers are hoping for a big turnout from Ron Paul supporters. This will send a strong message to the State Republicans that support for Ron Paul and his message is still strong in Missouri.

McCain accused of accepting improper donations from Rothschilds

A US campaign watchdog has accused presumptive Republican president nominee John McCain of violating election laws by accepting campaign contributions from two prominent Londoners.

At issue is a fundraising luncheon held in March at London's Spencer House, during McCain's swing through the United Kingdom. An invitation to the event lists Lord Rothschild and Nathaniel Rothschild as hosts, and indicates the event was made possible with their "kind permission".

Judicial Watch, a Washington organisation instrumental in the March release of Hillary Clinton's White House schedules, has asked US election monitors to investigate whether the Rothschilds improperly sponsored the fundraiser. US political campaigns are forbidden from accepting contributions from foreign nationals.

"The question is whether or not the Rothschilds paid for the event, the venue, the catering, or any other related costs," said Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton.

Tickets to the event cost $1,000 to $2,300, and the luncheon dress code was "lounge suits," the Washington Post reported in March.

The McCain campaign did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Judicial Watch also complained to the US election authority, the federal election commission, about Elton John's involvement in Clinton's campaign. The group alleged the British rocker broke US campaign laws by performing at a fundraiser for the New York senator. The Clinton campaign argued US law allowed the British musician to volunteer his time and solicit Americans for contributions.

The federal election commission is unlikely to act soon on the group's McCain complaint. It is currently short-handed, a result of a political squabble between the Democratic-led senate and the Bush administration, and lacks a quorum to take action.

Break The Matrix - Update

Just a quick update to let y'all know that "Break The Matrix" has taken it's next step forward, adding (yet another) social networking site for Ron Paul supporters to meet & exchange ideas.

Why bother? Because hopefully this will become much more than "(yet another) social networking site." The goals that Trevor Lyman (yes, the "moneybomb guy") and crew have for "Break The Matrix" are actually something more than the usual efforts:

Notice the key goal of forming "radio and television networks."

One thing that we have all hopefully learned by now is that the ignorant masses are blindly led by the so-called "mainstream media" (MSM). What many people do not realize is that 99% of television channels and most of the FM radio stations are all owned by just SIX "media conglomerates." Think about that...

When it is all boiled down to the essence: Only 6 men (and their cronies) run the companies and "provide the direction" for everything most Americans see and hear. These 6 men may have petty rivalries between them, but they are all in general agreement concerning their elitist "Bilderberg-esque" goals.

There can be no change in "public opinion" when the "public" only hears half the story - or gets just one side of the debate - or is told that only MSM-approved candidates can win a particular election. Apparently, a very large majority of Americans still foolishly trust these media giants, and there is no end in sight to their addiction for TV and radio entertainment.

So, if you want real change, it is necessary to take the battle off the Internet (where we have already won) and on to the airwaves, where the elite currently control virtually all sides of the "national discussion." That is the direction "Break The Matrix" and Basic Media, Inc. seems to be heading. If you agree with that direction, get yourself a free user account there, visit the site regularly, then log on to moderate up the good ideas (and, just as importantly - moderate down the idiots and professional noisemakers). This way, hopefully soon the ideas and information from the Internet site will be ready to take beyond the PC and onto radio & TV... So the drooling masses will at least have the option to hear the truth if they bother to listen and think for a change.

Will it work? God only knows.

Not Yours To Give

Dear friends,

This retelling of the classic tale of Davy Crockett was posted as a featured article on Dr. Paul's website recently. No doubt most of you have already heard this story, but for those of you who have not, it is a "must-read."

Likely the story has been exaggerated and embellished a bit... But nonetheless, it should be a required study for each and every American civics class from the elementary through the university. The lesson is timeless and extremely important.

"If I had ever taken the view of it that you have, I would have put my head into the fire before I would have given that vote; and if you will forgive me and vote for me again, if I ever vote for another unconstitutional law I wish I may be shot."[Emphasis mine]
- I love the honor, courage and conviction in these words. If only more men and women of "public service" would abide by this code today, things would be so much the better!

One day in the House of Representatives a bill was taken up appropriating money for the benefit of a widow of a distinguished naval officer. Several beautiful speeches had been made in its support. The speaker was just about to put the question when Crockett arose:

"Mr. Speaker--I have as much respect for the memory of the deceased, and as much sympathy for the suffering of the living, if there be, as any man in this House, but we must not permit our respect for the dead or our sympathy for part of the living to lead us into an act of injustice to the balance of the living. I will not go into an argument to prove that Congress has not the power to appropriate this money as an act of charity. Every member on this floor knows it.

We have the right as individuals, to give away as much of our own money as we please in charity; but as members of Congress we have no right to appropriate a dollar of the public money. Some eloquent appeals have been made to us upon the ground that it is a debt due the deceased. Mr. Speaker, the deceased lived long after the close of the war; he was in office to the day of his death, and I [n]ever heard that the government was in arrears to him.

"Every man in this House knows it is not a debt. We cannot without the grossest corruption, appropriate this money as the payment of a debt. We have not the semblance of authority to appropriate it as charity. Mr. Speaker, I have said we have the right to give as much money of our own as we please. I am the poorest man on this floor. I cannot vote for this bill, but I will give one week's pay to the object, and if every member of Congress will do the same, it will amount to more than the bill asks."

He took his seat. Nobody replied. The bill was put upon its passage, and, instead of passing unanimously, as was generally supposed, and as, no doubt, it would, but for that speech, it received but few votes, and, of course, was lost.

Later, when asked by a friend why he had opposed the appropriation, Crockett gave this explanation:

"Several years ago I was one evening standing on the steps of the Capitol with some members of Congress, when our attention was attracted by a great light over in Georgetown. It was evidently a large fire. We jumped into a hack and drove over as fast as we could. In spite of all that could be done, many houses were burned and many families made houseless, and besides, some of them had lost all but the clothes they had on. The weather was very cold, and when I saw so many children suffering, I felt that something ought to be done for them. The next morning a bill was introduced appropriating $20,000 for their relief. We put aside all other business and rushed it through as soon as it could be done.

"The next summer, when it began to be time to think about election, I concluded I would take a scout around among the boys of my district. I had no opposition there but, as the election was some time off, I did not know what might turn up. When riding one day in a part of my district in which I was more of a stranger than any other, I saw a man in a field plowing and coming toward the road. I gauged my gait so that we should meet as he came up, I spoke to the man. He replied politely, but as I thought, rather coldly.

"I began: 'Well friend, I am one of those unfortunate beings called candidates and---

"Yes I know you; you are Colonel Crockett. I have seen you once before, and voted for you the last time you were elected. I suppose you are out electioneering now, but you had better not waste your time or mine, I shall not vote for you again."

"This was a sockdolger...I begged him tell me what was the matter.

"Well Colonel, it is hardly worthwhile to waste time or words upon it. I do not see how it can be mended, but you gave a vote last winter which shows that either you have not capacity to understand the Constitution, or that you are wanting in the honesty and firmness to be guided by it. In either case you are not the man to represent me. But I beg your pardon for expressing it that way. I did not intend to avail myself of the privilege of the constituent to speak plainly to a candidate for the purpose of insulting you or wounding you.'

"I intend by it only to say that your understanding of the constitution is very different from mine; and I will say to you what but for my rudeness, I should not have said, that I believe you to be honest.

But an understanding of the constitution different from mine I cannot overlook, because the Constitution, to be worth anything, must be held sacred, and rigidly observed in all its provisions. The man who wields power and misinterprets it is the more dangerous the honest he is.'

" 'I admit the truth of all you say, but there must be some mistake. Though I live in the backwoods and seldom go from home, I take the papers from Washington and read very carefully all the proceedings of Congress. My papers say you voted for a bill to appropriate $20,000 to some sufferers by fire in Georgetown. Is that true?

"Well my friend; I may as well own up. You have got me there. But certainly nobody will complain that a great and rich country like ours should give the insignificant sum of $20,000 to relieve its suffering women and children, particularly with a full and overflowing treasury, and I am sure, if you had been there, you would have done just the same as I did.'

"It is not the amount, Colonel, that I complain of; it is the principle. In the first place, the government ought to have in the Treasury no more than enough for its legitimate purposes. But that has nothing with the question. The power of collecting and disbursing money at pleasure is the most dangerous power that can be entrusted to man, particularly under our system of collecting revenue by a tariff, which reaches every man in the country, no matter how poor he may be, and the poorer he is the more he pays in proportion to his means.

What is worse, it presses upon him without his knowledge where the weight centers, for there is not a man in the United States who can ever guess how much he pays to the government. So you see, that while you are contributing to relieve one, you are drawing it from thousands who are even worse off than he.

If you had the right to give anything, the amount was simply a matter of discretion with you, and you had as much right to give $20,000,000 as $20,000. If you have the right to give at all; and as the Constitution neither defines charity nor stipulates the amount, you are at liberty to give to any and everything which you may believe, or profess to believe, is a charity and to any amount you may think proper. You will very easily perceive what a wide door this would open for fraud and corruption and favoritism, on the one hand, and for robbing the people on the other. 'No, Colonel, Congress has no right to give charity.'

"'Individual members may give as much of their own money as they please, but they have no right to touch a dollar of the public money for that purpose. If twice as many houses had been burned in this country as in Georgetown, neither you nor any other member of Congress would have Thought of appropriating a dollar for our relief. There are about two hundred and forty members of Congress. If they had shown their sympathy for the sufferers by contributing each one week's pay, it would have made over $13,000. There are plenty of wealthy men around Washington who could have given $20,000 without depriving themselves of even a luxury of life.'

"The congressmen chose to keep their own money, which, if reports be true, some of them spend not very creditably; and the people about Washington, no doubt, applauded you for relieving them from necessity of giving what was not yours to give. The people have delegated to Congress, by the Constitution, the power to do certain things. To do these, it is authorized to collect and pay moneys, and for nothing else. Everything beyond this is usurpation, and a violation of the Constitution.'

"'So you see, Colonel, you have violated the Constitution in what I consider a vital point. It is a precedent fraught with danger to the country, for when Congress once begins to stretch its power beyond the limits of the Constitution, there is no limit to it, and no security for the people. I have no doubt you acted honestly, but that does not make it any better, except as far as you are personally concerned, and you see that I cannot vote for you.'

"I tell you I felt streaked. I saw if I should have opposition, and this man should go to talking and in that district I was a gone fawn-skin. I could not answer him, and the fact is, I was so fully convinced that he was right, I did not want to. But I must satisfy him, and I said to him:

"Well, my friend, you hit the nail upon the head when you said I had not sense enough to understand the Constitution. I intended to be guided by it, and thought I had studied it fully. I have heard many speeches in Congress about the powers of Congress, but what you have said here at your plow has got more hard, sound sense in it than all the fine speeches I ever heard. If I had ever taken the view of it that you have, I would have put my head into the fire before I would have given that vote; and if you will forgive me and vote for me again, if I ever vote for another unconstitutional law I wish I may be shot.'

"He laughingly replied; 'Yes, Colonel, you have sworn to that once before, but I will trust you again upon one condition. You are convinced that your vote was wrong. Your acknowledgment of it will do more good than beating you for it. If, as you go around the district, you will tell people about this vote, and that you are satisfied it was wrong, I will not only vote for you, but will do what I can to keep down opposition, and perhaps, I may exert some little influence in that way.'

"If I don't, said I, 'I wish I may be shot; and to convince you that I am in earnest in what I say I will come back this way in a week or ten days, and if you will get up a gathering of people, I will make a speech to them. Get up a barbecue, and I will pay for it.'

"No, Colonel, we are not rich people in this section but we have plenty of provisions to contribute for a barbecue, and some to spare for those who have none. The push of crops will be over in a few days, and we can then afford a day for a barbecue. 'This Thursday; I will see to getting it up on Saturday week. Come to my house on Friday, and we will go together, and I promise you a very respectable crowd to see and hear you.

"'Well I will be here. But one thing more before I say good-bye. I must know your name."

"'My name is Bunce.'

"'Not Horatio Bunce?'

"'Yes

"'Well, Mr. Bunce, I never saw you before, though you say you have seen me, but I know you very well. I am glad I have met you, and very proud that I may hope to have you for my friend.'

"It was one of the luckiest hits of my life that I met him. He mingled but little with the public, but was widely known for his remarkable intelligence, and for a heart brim-full and running over with kindness and benevolence, which showed themselves not only in words but in acts. He was the oracle of the whole country around him, and his fame had extended far beyond the circle of his immediate acquaintance. Though I had never met him, before, I had heard much of him, and but for this meeting it is very likely I should have had opposition, and had been beaten. One thing is very certain, no man could now stand up in that district under such a vote.

"At the appointed time I was at his house, having told our conversation to every crowd I had met, and to every man I stayed all night with, and I found that it gave the people an interest and confidence in me stronger than I had ever seen manifested before.

"Though I was considerably fatigued when I reached his house, and, under ordinary circumstances, should have gone early to bed, I kept him up until midnight talking about the principles and affairs of government, and got more real, true knowledge of them than I had got all my life before."

"I have known and seen much of him since, for I respect him - no, that is not the word - I reverence and love him more than any living man, and I go to see him two or three times every year; and I will tell you, sir, if every one who professes to be a Christian lived and acted and enjoyed it as he does, the religion of Christ would take the world by storm.

"But to return to my story. The next morning we went to the barbecue and, to my surprise, found about a thousand men there. I met a good many whom I had not known before, and they and my friend introduced me around until I had got pretty well acquainted - at least, they all knew me.

"In due time notice was given that I would speak to them. They gathered up around a stand that had been erected. I opened my speech by saying:

"Fellow-citizens - I present myself before you today feeling like a new man. My eyes have lately been opened to truths which ignorance or prejudice or both, had heretofore hidden from my view. I feel that I can today offer you the ability to render you more valuable service than I have ever been able to render before. I am here today more for the purpose of acknowledging my error than to seek your votes. That I should make this acknowledgment is due to myself as well as to you. Whether you will vote for me is a matter for your consideration only."

"I went on to tell them about the fire and my vote for the appropriation and then told them why I was satisfied it was wrong. I closed by saying:

"And now, fellow-citizens, it remains only for me to tell you that the most of the speech you have listened to with so much interest was simply a repetition of the arguments by which your neighbor, Mr. Bunce, convinced me of my error.

"It is the best speech I ever made in my life, but he is entitled to the credit for it. And now I hope he is satisfied with his convert and that he will get up here and tell you so.'

"He came up to the stand and said:

"Fellow-citizens - it affords me great pleasure to comply with the request of Colonel Crockett. I have always considered him a thoroughly honest man, and I am satisfied that he will faithfully perform all that he has promised you today.'

"He went down, and there went up from that crowd such a shout for Davy Crockett as his name never called forth before.'

"I am not much given to tears, but I was taken with a choking then and felt some big drops rolling down my cheeks. And I tell you now that the remembrance of those few words spoken by such a man, and the honest, hearty shout they produced, is worth more to me than all the honors I have received and all the reputation I have ever made, or ever shall make, as a member of Congress.'

Revolution March - "Ozarks Express" update

Bureaucracy is an evil thing, a ravenous consumer of productivity and resources, and a destroyer of hope.

For over 6 weeks, the Washington D.C. parks and recreation division permit department has held the "Ron Paul Revolution March" in limbo.

The public response has been predictable: Outrage, but little action. Some are suggesting that permits be dammed, we all show up on June 21st "unorganized" and sans papers. Others are suggesting that such "lawless" behavior would be counter-productive and Ron Paul would likely not participate in such an event.

The bureaucrats think that people in this situation will get their hackles up, turn on each other like wild animals, and the whole idea will eventually fall apart. Are they right? Time will tell.

Still others are suggesting that the "Tax Day" / "Freedom Rally" - which was planned (and issued permits) many. many months ago - long before Ron Paul suggested the whole "Grand March" - is the best thing going right now.

I don't know how many thousands of people are planning on attending any of these events, but I do believe that as of now, far too few are likely to attend to gain any real attention. The anti-war protests in D.C. last January drew about a half-million persons, yet the Elitist MainStream Media gave it little more than a passing glance - as that protest apparently didn't suit their agenda at the time.

Due to the successful delay tactics and fracturing of support, it is extremely unlikely we will see anything close to 500,000 people attending any of the currently scheduled events. (I do hope I'm wrong, but I really don't believe that I am.) You can rest assured that the evil MSM will mention nothing good about a "relatively small" (under a million participants) protest march that is connected with Ron Paul. The best thing about the idea for such a single big "million person march" was that it would have helped buoy up support among the Ron Paul Revolutionaries... But now even that possible result has been diminished.

This past month, I ran a Pledgebank.com pledge that if at least 10 other people signed up for the pledge to share a chartered bus to Ron Paul's "Grand March" - I'd arrange the trip and go with them.

The deadline just passed... Sunday at midnight. Only 7 people pledged, falling 3 short of the goal.

I wish to extend my sincere thanks to those of you reading this who did sign up. Taking the pledge was no small gesture and showed courage and commitment. Thank You.

And to the hundred or so others that knew about the pledge, but decided not to take it, I do understand your myriad of different points about why you declined, and that's OK too. No hard feelings, we all have our reasons.

My question is: What are YOU going to do now?

Will you give up all hope - throw up your hands - accept a fiat dollar that has lost 96% of its value in the past century - accept $4.00/gal. fuel while the fat oil cats grow even fatter - accept "REAL ID" and carry your papers with you at all times - maybe even plant some of those RFID's that started out for the NAIS cattle program into your own body (you know, for YOUR protection!) - will you give up any and all essential liberties for the temporary illusion of security?

Or will you do something - anything - to rage against the machine, draw a line in the Ozark gravel and say to the Elitist Balrogs: "This Line You Shall NOT Pass!"

The "Ozark Express" was an idea. But as with all ideas, if it doesn't suit the time and the need, it should be modified, or cast aside in exchange for something better.

There are currently plenty of good and worthy efforts underway to continue the rEVOLution. Some liberty-loving and constitutionally-knowledgeable people from our Meetup groups are running for local office, and that is a good and noble effort that could benefit from your volunteer support. Some are working to reform the Republican party from within, while others are bypassing the political process and devising other more direct actions to effect change. What you choose to do is up to you, but don't let it be said that you did nothing.

And along those lines, I don't wish to discourage anyone from going to any of the various national rallies/marches/protests, if that is what you'd like to do and you see some benefit to it that I have overlooked.

If any of you wish to take up the task of organizing such a trip yourself, contact me and I'll pass along the research and contacts that I spent many hours collecting. Who knows, I may even go with you, but I'm not making any more promises. I intend to focus my efforts on actions that have more immediate and tangible results.

But that's just what I'm doing. How about you?

After this morning's fiasco at the GOP caucus in McDonald county, I've decided to write a "letter to the editor." Since I wrote it in a self-depreciating, humorous style someone might actually print it. they like that sort of thing.

(And, for the record... If you are concerned that "me" personally making such negative remarks about this are damaging "our" chances to work within the party... Let me assure you that it was made quite clear that "they" regard "us" as "the enemy" and no amount of sucking-up would change their minds, even if we wanted to.)

While it is worthwhile to "keep your friends close and your enemies closer." - It is best that we all personally recognize the enemy for who they are, and not delude ourselves into thinking they may become our friends.

Dear editors of the Press and McDonald County voters,

Yee-haw! We sure have some great representative democracy 'round these parts. Especially, it seems, in the Republicrat party.

Why, y'all should'a seen it, it was a sight to behold at the recent county caucus of registered Elephants. (The "Gamey Olde Partie" as they are affectionately known.) Probably the biggest turnout for them in living memory, a full house packed the courtroom, each and every one in attendance eagerly anticipating some participation in their local party's decision-making process. Not.

But wait... Turns out that the Missouri State Elephants sent out an urgent missive to their registered party hacks (um... I mean "senior party members"):

Beware the Ron Paul Republicans!

The word is out that they might actually attend and try to interject some of their freedom & liberty-lovin' pro-property rights nonsense into the sacred tomb of our party platform. (Even though it is just symbolic - after all, the "platform" is just a pretty thing that elected party thugs can point to with pride, whilst they go ahead and do whatever the heck they feel like doing anyway.)

Yep, the word got out just in time so the hardcore party loyalists (affectionately known as the "know-nothings") could round up enough warm bodies to drag out of bed and away from the cartoons on the tube Saturday morning, to sit for a few minutes and raise their hand when told to.

Yes, it was quite the contingent of the "Barely-Legal Republican Girls Gone Mild" this year. (Perhaps coerced to attend and cooperate under threat of losing the use of daddy's Gold Card this summer? I suppose we'll never know.)

And along with those compliant new recruits (they aren't considered "newcomers" if they are willing to play ball); there were bleary-eyed scruffy looking spouses aplenty, who by their expressions clearly resented missing their morning coffee clutch with their pals to attend this shindig. But all that matters to the party faithful is they did manage to get together just enough patriotic Elephantine rubber-stampers to drown out any trouble them pesky liberty-loving Ron Paul supporters might have caused.

Good for them.

Hear that bell tolling in the distance? That's the death knell of the dominance of Lincoln's Party in ol' Mac county. Democrats, rejoice! You may actually be able to take advantage of your so-called opposition party's mistake of alienating nearly half of its constituency, and win your boys and girls some more seats next time around.

That is, unless enough people have come to my conclusion:

A pox on both your houses!

There's not a dime's bit of difference between the Donkeys and the Elephants, and fortunately, more voters are waking up to that fact every time around. Look at the poll numbers for independents, climbing higher every election cycle whenever there is a choice to be found. Expect that trend to continue sharply upward.

This latest party circus was highlighted for myself personally when I had enough of the rubber-stamping of the party hacks (um... I mean "loyalists"), and moved that the written suggested amendments to the party platform be read, rather than just tucked away in circular file #13 never to be seen again. (All such amendments were suggested by that obnoxious intellectual-constitution-quotin' Ron Paul crowd anyway, as no true believer in the heavenly-granted supremacy and divinely-inspired wisdom of the State GOP would dare question their perfectly written platform.)

But the crowd had already enjoyed enough of that dreadfully long meeting. Gosh, they must have been there for a whole 40 minutes already, and their hindquarters musta been all sore and itchy by then. We certainly don't want to waste up to 5 more precious minutes to hear what about a third of the audience had proposed. They're just the "newcomers" anyway.

Definition: "Newcomers" means "infiltrators" in party hackspeak. After all, these "new" people had only been voting Republican for most (if not all) of their lives, what do they know?

So even that small, symbolic gesture was defeated by the Pachyderm party-loyalist majority. Not that it made any difference, but I was cheered by the fact that I'd managed to at least elicit a single win for "Nay" that day. Too many "Ayes" had me dizzy from all the bobblehead votes that preceded it.

But to be serious for a moment: It says a lot when a party is too scared to even take a few short minutes to hear the opinions of many (not just a few, even if still a technical minority). Whenever you see someone, and especially a group of people, stick their fingers in their ears, close their eyes, and start chanting "blah, blah, blah" quietly to themselves - you know that "they" know "they're" wrong, and are just too afraid to hear the truth. It is the classic sign of impending doom of any organization, when the powers-that-be have their heads stuck firmly...

...In the sand.

Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves. Next time, bring your brain or stay at home.

North American Army created without OK by Congress

In a ceremony that received virtually no attention in the American media, the United States and Canada signed a military agreement Feb. 14 allowing the armed forces from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a domestic civil emergency, even one that does not involve a cross-border crisis.

The agreement, defined as a Civil Assistance Plan, was not submitted to Congress for approval, nor did Congress pass any law or treaty specifically authorizing this military agreement to combine the operations of the armed forces of the United States and Canada in the event of a wide range of domestic civil disturbances ranging from violent storms, to health epidemics, to civil riots or terrorist attacks.

Washington DC March via the "Ozarks Express"

Ron Paul's "Grand March" on D.C. is still in the planning stages at this time, so we are also just starting to plan our trip. Here's what we have so far...

The plan:

A fun, inexpensive, and quick group bus trip
to the D.C. March & Rally

We have an opportunity to plan some very low-cost travel options, but we need to know how many are interested right now...

We've been given a very affordable option to use standard shuttle buses with W/C lifts, that seat 18-20 adults comfortably.

We plan to offer "fare & rooms" as a package deal and sell advance tickets. A PAIR of tickets (for a couple sharing a room) could be as low as $390 (only $195 per person). This would include all transportation and lodging costs, plus simple refreshments during the trip. Anyone needing a single ticket (not sharing a room) could buy one for approx. $280. We will also likely offer discounts for minors/children sharing rooms with their parents.

Because of the travel time (approx. 20 hours including scheduled rest stops approx. every 2 hours), we will likely be leaving Springdale, Arkansas very early in the morning the day before the rally - and make a quick pickup of passengers in Missouri along the way. Then we travel all day and arrive on the outskirts of D.C. late that evening and check in to a hotel. We bus to the rally the next morning and have plenty of time the remainder of the day for everyone to sightsee and have dinner. The bus can make return trips during this time to the motel for anyone tired and wanting to rest, then come back to the rally parking area for a final pickup later that evening. We all return to the hotel that night and get a good sleep before heading back home very early the next morning.

For cost comparisons: Airfare prices on Expedia show that the prices currently range from $300-$400 per person - not counting the taxi or car rental to get you back and forth from the airport and the rally, overnight parking, or your hotel costs ($100+ per night for rooms in the DC area). Amtrak costs are about the same, and require several extra days travel time. Greyhound bus rates are nearly the same as our "bus travel expense" (actually slightly higher), but the trip is much longer, with numerous stops along the way, and you still have to get to the Rally and hotels from the bus stations.

This is all just a rough estimate, as it is too early to set costs in stone (we will need to know the exact date of the March to be certain). But it gives us all something to work with and talk about among all our local Ron Paul Meetup groups.

If there is enough interest we will also plan a second bus that will take an extra couple of days with a more relaxed schedule and some extra perks - but the cost will of course be a bit higher - primarily because of the additional hotel expenses. Once the date for the D.C. Rally is set in stone, we'll need to see exactly how much interest there is in each option.

But if you pledge for the "Ozark Express" trip but later decide to go on the longer trip, that will be perfectly fine. Right now we are still in the early planning stages so all things are possible. We just need to start finding out what our people want to do at this point.

Staying Active

Besides Ron Paul's candidacy, there are many issues that concern Ozarks voters, interested in the preservation of the Constitution and American values.

In our near locality, there are many folks; property owners, farmers, and homeschoolers unaware of the dangers they face, the threats posed to their livelihoods by the Federal and State governments, and the more distant specter of One World Government.

We have no alternative but to be their media, engage in passive activism to awaken thousands of Missourians and Ozarkers to the menace we collectively face.

Passive activism does not mean the expenditure of funds and long hours of campaigning and sign waving.

Every little action counts, locally.

For example, in the past year, I have visited a number of libraries in several states and noticed interesting phenomena.
Regardless of their size or location, these libraries had one thing in common—six to ten copies of Barry Obama’s autobiography, the Audacity of Hope on prominent display.
I visited some of these libraries on a daily basis and noted that none of these books were ever checked out. They never left the shelves.

Of course this was not a phenomena, Senator Obama is running for President. His personality and life are unknown to most Americans, so it is natural that public libraries should stock copies of Senator Obama’s book on their shelves.
However, it seems that many libraries overstocked—and not just on books by Barry Obama.
Go to your local library and chances are that you’ll find at least four copies of Bill Clinton’s “My Life” back to back on the shelf, followed by a number of laudatory biographies of Hillary Clinton, George Bush, and John McCain.

Don’t expect to find any works by or about Dr. Ron Paul like Gold, Peace, and Prosperity, A Foreign Policy of Freedom: Peace, Commerce, and Honest Friendship, Freedom Under Siege, or an politically-incorrect biographies, histories or fiction either.

What must be done to rectify this situation?

Many branch libraries, especially small local libraries will accept donated new books. Check with your local librarian, and then consider buying two copies of Dr. Paul’s latest work, The Revolution: A Manifesto.

But don’t stop there. Consider purchasing the The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History and the The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Constitution, the works of Alan Stang and Thomas Fleming and donating these as well.

A few random thoughts on activism in our local towns and and villages. I hope to consider more methods, on this blog, in the future.

I drink because the Old Republic is dead and she is not coming back.

Less than one hundred years ago, folks in rural America “paid their taxes” with a few days of labor. It might have meant building a one room school house or fixing the roads, but I doubt there was much complaining. The gatherings were really social functions and beer flowed as stories were swapped amongst neighbors. There was real diversity and real tolerance, for there was a real need for community.

But all that is gone. All of those organic community relationships, fortified with booze, have been outsourced to our rulers. We now pay our taxes, some 60% of earnings every year, to a class of phony paper shufflers churned out by the meritocracy who handle all such ‘community’ things for our alleged betterment. How did we get here and is this progress?

In the early 20th Century, the Century of Progressives, The Progressive movement, this silly belief that an elite of scientists and "professional" managers could do a better job, were taking over the reins of power. They intended nothing less than remaking America and the world in their own twisted sober vision. They promised an end to drunkenness, an end to oppression, an end to war, and later added an end to sickness and disease and an end to want.

But rural people were not interested.

Progressives of the time and still today, hate rural/real America. They hated the one room school house, and pushed for “school consolidation” all in the name of raising up stupid country folk. “It’s a new age,” they said. Soon, the income tax, endless foreign wars, and alcohol prohibition came to rural America.

In order for school consolidation to occur, the Progressives signed on to ‘pave America.’ Good roads would be needed to ship children up to two hours from their country homes to government re-education camps. The great homogenization of America was underway, the Progressives were building a New Man, part Soviet New Man, part Fascist New Man.

Corporations caught on to the movement to pave America and threw in their full support. Be it the Seventh Day Adventists in Battle Creek, Michigan who wanted to sell soul cleansing laxative bran flakes in every corner of the country, or Big Oil, they were all too happy to see America the Beautiful paved over to increase their bottom line. Big Business, those who could master distribution rather than quality, pressed for the access to new markets, and they promised rural people that they too would get access to new markets.

And still, rural people were not interested. The Progressives reasoned rural people were too stupid, hence their apprehension, so they secured monies from the Federal government and took lands by eminent domain in order to build roads. Bond issues were sold to pay for the roads on the installment plan. A cycle of debt followed and the paper shufflers and Wall Street bond traders were happy to oblige, stock brokers were all too happy to rush funding to the masters of distribution, and the wizards of advertising were ready to tackle the mass market.

The farmer faced with new competition needed a tractor, which he could not afford, so he bought one on the installment plan. Soon wives were demanding their husbands buy cars, which they could not afford so they bought them on the payment plan as well. Children were soon asking to go to college, fresh with their consolidated high school diplomas; they had seen too much to envision life at home. College was also paid for on the installment plan.

(Thanks to bond issues for debt financing, the dollar today is worth only 1/18th of what it was worth one hundred years ago, and now everything down to televisions and vacations are paid for on the installment plan.)

The roads also took the children out of town, sapping the countryside of its vitality; the roads took them as far away as Iraq…sent there in order to secure more oil so kids can keep getting away from home. Beer, which came back in 1933, was now in the hands of those who could handle distribution, the Coors, Schaefers, Anheusers and Buschs, rather than the local beer artisan with his respect for the craft. During the Second World War, malted rice became the chief ingredient rather than malt from the amber fields of grain.

America was paved over and the roads brought distribution trucks, indeed. In the land of hemp and beer, soon cocaine, Ecstasy and OxyContin would arrive.

Government policy directed by Progressives has remade America, and the process continues down to this day to urban beer halls where smoking has been outlawed, and the corporate bar, complete with blaring top 40 music, $4 Bud bottles and a clientele straight from a Gap Commercial, reigns. If we, those who still long for the Old Republic, are to retake our government, it will come from our beer halls, as it always has, which is precisely why the family owned pub is being converted into an Applebees.

The enemy knows where we gather.

Debt has piled on debt. The Baby Boomers are set to retire and they will pull their money out of the stock market to pay for trips to exotic places and Indian casinos. They will bankrupt the federal government once and for all with Social Security, healthcare, and claims to free drugs. Parents, too proud to ask their kids for money, will be all too happy to use the government to pick their children’s pockets. Children, bitter that their parents abandoned them to “professional” daycare, another creation of the Progressive, will be all too happy to leave dear old ma and pa in the hands of “professional” care.

Beyond community relationships, the Progressives have destroyed family relationships.

The Old Republic is dead, and I mourn her passing every night with a pint of ale.

The Progressives, with their fancy Ivy League degrees and their silly elections pitting two Yalies from some freak Dungeons and Dragons Club, have been utterly discredited but they still hold all the reins of power and have no plans to relinquish their grasp on the government, multi-national corporations, and cultural institutions.

We have become too lazy and accustomed to solitude to conceive of paying road taxes with a day's labor again. The "professional" cultural commissars have unleashed the most life-sapping programming through the altar of television, Reality TV. Our food is shipped in from all over the country to supermarkets. Rural people have sold their homes to developers of cookie-cutter sub-developments, and moved to Florida. The architectural triumph of the age, the Strip Mall, hurts the eyes and kills the spirit with corporate advertising being the only art we are allowed to see in public.

Progressivism was just one long credit card binge, but it has wrecked our spirits.

The Progressive’s response has been to fortify the spirit with Prozac, Valium and various other Soma competitors, but my counter-insurgency to the Brave New World is fueled by beer and whiskey.

I drink to the day when it all comes crashing down and real America wakes up from this long nightmare and rejects the Progressive religion of the Dries, forcing kids to take Ritalin, stuffing their faces with McDonalds, and washing it down with a Pepsi as soft porn teenage blondes screech on Big Radio.

It is faithful alcohol, for me Irish whiskey, or the fine local top fermented ales, that replenish my will to fight the bastards with every part of my soul. And so I drink, lest I resign to a fate worse than death, the fate of Progressive conformity.

The Southwest Missouri Ron Paul Meetup Group (Formerly Joplin Ron Paul Meetup Group) held a sign waving rally in Joplin at the intersection of Rangeline and 7th street. The local news media was there and did positive stories on Ron Paul. When you do anything, be sure to get the local media involved. They have been really good to us here in Joplin. We are planning a 3rd sign waving event next Saturday (2-2-2008 2pm to 4pm) and have again invited the local media. They have aired stories both weekends and we hope they do again. This next time, the Joplin Globe will be there as well. We invite Rocky Comfort and Springfield to come and join us and make this the MOST awesome showing of support. Please let me know if you can make it so we can tell the media how much the local support has grown. We had 45 people the first weekend (thank you Rocky Comfort) and 25-30 people this last weekend, with many new supporters. If we could get 100 people on this intersection, what a statement we would make!! Right before February 5th this is a good way to remind people of Ron Paul and gain those who are still undecided. With all of our canvassing, calling etc this one last time to get the RP name out I believe will really help. With MSM ignoring us the local news can be a great way to advertise free!

Ron Paul Continues to Gain Legitimacy

The general consensus in American politics has been that Ron Paul’s explanation of how he would fix the United States economy is not clear. Some argue that voters do not care because they simply do not understand how the economy works. The fact is that Ron Paul is simply diagnosing the problem with the economy; his cure would simply be to let the market’s built in immune system cure itself through his free market approach. Asking politicians to give solutions to the struggling economy is similar to asking the generals in the Pentagon the best way to fix the situation in Iraq, when most likely the situation would be solved most efficiently by the people who are suffering; the Iraqi people.

The same holds true for the US market. While other politicians, namely Clinton, Bush and Obama think they have the right potion to give the economy a “shot in the arm” to use Bush’s phrase, Ron Paul would simply allow the market to fix the market. He would do the same with Iraq by “giving the Iraqis their country back.” He argues that the constant tinkering done by the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Government in attempts to manipulate the United States economy only protects the interests of the elite class in this country while the poor are simply given a few crumbs and brushed aside.

As this election year moves forward and candidates like Fred Thompson begin to cash their checks and go home because their message is a carbon copy of their opponents, the only difference being what they choose to highlight and emphasize, Ron Paul continues to gain legitimacy.

the Republican establishment is finally starting to sit up and take notice and publicly coming to terms with the fact that Ron Paul is going to be around much longer than they had hoped. This is a significant change because as more and more of the respected members within the GOP give the OK to give Ron Paul a look and justify him as a legitimate option, the stigma will be lifted from his candidacy and then Ron Paul will find himself in a great position.

The only weapon that has had any success against Ron Paul is not letting his message be heard and when it begins to be heard, to drown it out with laughter, so as publications like the National Review begin to soberly analyze his views it is tough to see how there is any hope for the Romney’s of the world.

If we only had the time, we could help every truly patriotic American to eventually see the truth - that Ron Paul is the best candidate for president we've had in our lifetime. But even with the current "challenges" facing us, we may yet win the endgame by helping enough people learn the truth... Even if not enough to win the nomination outright in the primaries, then perhaps by the time of the Republican conventions Ron Paul will actually be able to win a brokered convention. Remind voters: An Election is NOT a "Horse Race"

I've been "Shocked" & "Awed" (but mostly just disgusted) at how the Big Elitist MainStream Media has gone to unprecedented lengths to manipulate this presidential primary election.

Of course, "media" manipulation of elections is nothing new. It has been around for practically as long as elections have existed, but it is the extent and form of the current manipulation that has both caught my attention and upset my stomach this past year.

In days gone past, a person could expect a newspaper with the name of, for instance: "The Arkansas Democrat" to sing the praises of their fav-rave (D) candidates, while pointing out the brothel-dwelling booze-swilling habits of all the opposing (R) candidates. That is what "partisan journalism" was all about back then, and most people understood this and kept it all in perspective.

These days, the hapless TV-addled masses have set aside all reason and discernment, and have somehow embraced the big media lie that "all MSM journalists are NON-biased, independent observers just reporting the facts for you to decide." It is enough to make you wonder how the masses can actually be so completely gullible? (Those same herds of sheep, who all believe - secretly or openly - that they actually are "politically savvy")

One important thing that has struck me recently is how the media is all about describing the current presidential election as a "Horse Race."

There are many reasons this is done, though none of them are good journalistic reasons. And, as is the norm when the MSM is involved, it is also deceitful and inaccurate.

A horse race is much different than an election.

In a horse race, the object (for the bettors) is to pick the winner before the race is over.

In an election, the object (for the voters) is to pick the right person for the job.

It is not the job of the voter to pick who is most likely to be the eventual "winner" for any particular elected position. It is the duty of the voter to place a vote for the person best suited for the position.

However, if you listen to the Big Elitist MainStream Media too much or too carelessly, you'd think that the opposite were true. With almost no exception whatsoever, the MSM goads, manipulates, and even coerces you vote for the "winner" as they see it, in their (lack of) infinite wisdom.

"After all," they say, "Americans love a winner. YOU don't want to waste your vote on a LOSER now, do you?"

The MSM, just like the burnt-out gamblers scrounging for loose change outside the stables whilst looking for their next sucker, will be HAPPY to give you the "inside poop" so you can pick the next Trifecta.

But that is not what good journalists should do, and that is not what a good election is about. The purpose of good journalism is to give the audience the best and most accurate information about all the candidates; either without blatant bias or (better yet) disclosing the sources' actual bias clearly beforehand. The purpose of the election is to cast your vote for the person that you believe (based on all the independent research you can manage) best represents the policies you believe in.

When you speak to everyone you know in these next few weeks before the primary election (and I hope you will), please remind them of their civic duty. Their duty to vote for the best person for the job, period. Not the one most likely to win according to the MSM "bookies," but simply the right man for the job.

This year, that man is absolutely and unquestionably Ron Paul.

Missouri Supreme Court to Hear Landmark Eminent Domain Case This Week

JEFFERSON CITY - January 14, 2008 — When the Missouri Supreme Court hears the eminent domain case of an Arnold, Mo. dentist on January 17th, the stakes will be much higher than just the fate of one dental practice - the case will affect property owners in 1200 Missouri cities. The Supreme Court’s ruling will determine whether non-charter cities like Arnold have the power to take private property for the benefit of wealthy private developers or if their eminent domain powers will be limited to traditional public uses, like roads and sewers.

The case involves Homer Tourkakis, who has operated a successful dental practice in the Arnold triangle for more than two decades. The city of Arnold wants to take Tourkakis’s property and turn it over to developer THF Reality, which is planning to put a big box store and other retail establishments in the Arnold Triangle.

Tourkakis's legal defense of his property is straightforward. At the root of it is a clause that has been in the Missouri Constitution since 1875. Article I, Section 28 says, "private property shall not be taken for private use with or without compensation". By itself, this provision would protect against the use of eminent domain for private development, but a new constitutional clause was added in 1945 that amounts to an exception to that protection.

Article VI, Section 21 authorizes the taking of private property and conveying it to a private developer if it is in an area declared to be "blighted, substandard or insanitary". But Dr. Tourkakis argues that this provision applies only to charter (home rule) cities such as St. Louis and Kansas City. Jefferson County Circuit court Judge M. Edward Williams agreed and ruled in favor of Tourkakis in May of 2007. The city of Arnold then appealed to the Supreme Court of Missouri. Two nationally-recognized public interest law firms, The Pacific Legal Foundation and the Institute for Justice, have provided legal assistance to Dr. Tourkakis.

Ron Calzone, chairman of Missouri Citizens for Property Rights (MO-CPR), argues that the Tourkakis case is more evidence that the eminent domain legislation passed in 2006 has not given property owners adequate protections. “When the eminent domain bill was passed by the Missouri legislature in 2006, most people assumed that it would put an end to eminent domain abuse,” Calzone said. “But the Arnold controversy, along with dozens of other cases in Saint Louis, Kansas City, Richmond Heights, Sugar Creek, Valley Park, Liberty and elsewhere, demonstrate that property owners are still at risk.”

The owner of a Kansas City parking lot learned the hard way that the 2006 legislation would not help when he appealed to what was supposed to be one of the stronger parts of the bill. A December 18, 2007 decision by the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, ruled in favor of a large developer who sought to use eminent domain to take the parking lot so he could build a new headquarters in its place.

Dr. Tourkakis serves on the board of MO-CPR, along with David Danforth one of a group of three Clayton property owners who successfully defended their properties in the Supreme Court last summer. Although Danforth won, the narrow decision provides no real protection for other property owners. Calzone says that a victory in the Tourkakis case would provide greater protections for property owners in non-charter cities, but it would still leave property owners in charter cities - more than half the population of the state - exposed to the same abusive tactics.

He argues that only a constitutional amendment will finally end the scourge of eminent domain for private gain for all Missourians. MO-CPR is currently recruiting volunteers and raising money to collect more than 200,000 signatures for each of two constitutional amendments.

A large crowd of concerned property owners is expected to attend the arguments in court next Thursday, which are at 9:30 AM in the Supreme Court building in Jefferson City.

“After one Diebold optical-scan system had been certified, a Finnish computer expert executed what’s become known as the “Hursti hack.” In May 2005, Harri Hursti showed that an optical scanner’s removable memory card could be reprogrammed to alter vote totals. Then, this August, California’s SOS released jaw-dropping findings (conducted by academic computer security experts) about the state’s machines. On Diebold touch screens, ordinary objects could disable the voter-verified printed ballots (needed for recounts). Hart’s optical-scan software could be rewritten to alter vote totals, and its touch screens’ printers could be manipulated to produce multiple records. California’s SOS has since decertified almost all e-voting machines in the state….”

Speaking for myself, I believe it is madness that all votes in every election are not on paper ("hardcopy") ballots, and hand-counted in full view of the public at each and every election.

Yes, it takes a lot of time, and is labor-intensive. But if an honest voting system is not worth it, then just what on earth IS worth it?

Yes, it means that vote totals will usually not be available for many hours - even a full day - after the polls close. But that is actually a good thing. Exit polls and early reporting made before the close of polls can and do influence the end results (particularly in a nationwide election where time zone differences apply). For instance, when the media reports that Candidate "A" won most of the east coast states, it has the effect of discouraging people* from voting for Candidate "B" in the remainder of the states where the polls are still open.

*The sad reason this happens is too many people "don't want to take a chance that they might vote for a loser" - which is idiotic reasoning of course... You must always vote for the best candidate for the position. Always.

I know that many of the election officials and poll workers genuinely believe that electronic vote counting machines are beneficial and trustworthy, for various reasons. But speaking as someone who has over 20 years of professional experience working with electronics, computer systems and networking, I can assure you that NO electronic/computer system can ever be fully secure. Not ever. It is the nature of the "beast" that electronic methods of vote counting can always be tampered with. And no amount of security features and procedures can stop this anywhere close to 100% of the time. One of the biggest problems with electronic voting systems is this: Detecting tampering is extremely difficult, and beyond the ability of all but a scare few expert technicians. It is actually easier to tamper with a system, than it is to detect such tampering!

Any election (even one using paper ballots) can be tampered with in many ways. There has been vote fraud of one sort of another for as long as elections have been held.** But there are good and common sense ways that such fraud can be avoided.

**(I refer you back to the Stalin quote at the top of this post for one good example. If you don't trust the "vote counters" then you better find someone you do trust to "watch the counters" or watch them yourself!)

The best time-tested and proven way is: Paper ballots, placed by the voter's own hand into large opaque boxes supported by a simple table (where it can be seen that no "false bottoms or sides" could exist), carefully sealed and inventoried as they become full (but still left in full public view), and then each ballot hand-counted by trusted representatives of each campaign (and each side of every ballot issue), in the full view of the public (on a space-available basis - but all reasonable efforts should be make to allow for adequate spectator room).

Time consuming? Yes.
Labor intensive? Yes.
Fair and Trustworthy...?

Yes.

Ron Paul Raises $6 Million in One Day

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA (12/17/07) -- Congressman Ron Paul’s presidential campaign had a record fundraising day yesterday.

In a 24-hour period on December 16, the campaign raised $6.026 million dollars, surpassing the one-day record of $5.7 million held by John Kerry.

During the day, over 58,000 people contributed to Dr. Paul’s campaign, including 24,940 first-time donors. Over 118,000 Americans have donated to the campaign in the fourth quarter.

The $6 million one-day total means the campaign has raised over $18 million this quarter, far exceeding its goal of $12 million.

Who better to go door to door canvassing than somebody who has already done it full time for 2 years as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

In a surprising turn of events many (Mormons) Latter-day Saints are not out cheering for Mitt Romney with whom they share faith - but for Congressman Ron Paul. Why? The simple answer is the Constitution. The Latter-day Saints revere the Constitution as nearly scripture. They feel that the founding fathers were inspired from on high to establish the free form of government that they did. Former Church President Ezra Taft Benson (and Secretary of Agriculture in the Eisenhower Administration) was quoted as saying that Church faithful should look on the Constitution as if it were a verse out of the bible.

This spiritual understanding of limited government and freedom has many Latter-day Saints flocking to Ron Paul's constitution-based presidential campaign.

Internet sites such as ours and latterdayconservative.com have cropped up on the internet in fiery support of Dr. Paul.

Responding to their own sense that the Constitution is in danger and needs to be defended, two brothers who are also Latter-day Saints (Mormons), Adam and Paul Chavez, want to fly to New Hampshire to apply their door knocking know-how to help Dr. Paul win in the Live Free or Die State. One is in Utah and one in California. They've only got one problem. Their pockets are empty. They need help to get there. That's why they've started a fund-raising effort to foot the bill for round trip airfare.

Round trip airfare from Salt Lake City, UT to Manchester, NH is hovering right around $650 according to Kayak.com.

So the two need approximately $1150 for airfare. The plan is to raise the money by Friday, December 14th, then buy the tickets. Three Parades in One Day: A New Record?

The Rocky Comfort Ron Paul Meetup Group had originally intended to participate in only two parades on Saturday the 8th:

The Monett, Missouri Christmas Parade at 10:00 a.m. and the Cassville, Missouri Christmas Parade at 6:30 p.m.

However, fortified by a chili luncheon, courtesy of the Lees, (thanks, Dan and Verna) the group concluded to join the Exeter, Missouri Christmas Parade at 1:30 in the afternoon.

Thousands of Slim Jims and business cards were distributed to eager crowds. The Group received a generally positive reception.

Mr. Fitts of the Southern Missouri John Birch Society was able to use his bull horn to the maximum advantage informing the crowds of Dr. Paul's stances on a variety of issues.

Americans in general and Missourians in particular should understand that if they oppose illegal immigration, the War in Iraq, and the North American Union, their only recourse is to vote for Ron Paul on February 5th.

Farmers For Ron Paul.

Welcome fellow farmers. Farming in America has always been a top politcal issue. Politicians love to talk about us. They make promises about how they will "help American farmers" but they don't always walk the walk. As my grandfather, a gentleman and an old farmer always says, "You can trust a politcian as far as you can throw him." He's never voted in his life. This year, he is registering to vote as a Republican, because of a man named Ron Paul.

Ron Paul is a real farmer. He grew up on a farm outside of Pittsburgh, PA. He still enjoys working the land, and growing organic tomatoes. He is the only candidate who can claim to have actually lived and worked on a farm. He has first hand knowlege of what it's like.

You see, our family, who have been farming since they came to America, has been hit with hard times. It's simple uneconomical for us to make ends meet as small farmers. The politicians always promise money for farmers and plans to help farmers. Where does that money go? We've never seen it. It goes to the large Agri-businesses. The same ones that fund the lobbyists who work in the Capitol every year to make sure the latest "Farm Bill" is loaded with subsidies for them. Those subsidies line the pockets of the large corporate farmers, but hurt the millions of family farms just trying to get by. One man has always stood up for us, and his name is Ron Paul. Our system of subsidized agriculture simply isn't working for millions of hard-working farmers, because the government pays large farmers, which causes prices to come down, which means small farmers can't make ends meet.

Ron Paul is a leading advocate of free-market economies. He knows that under normal market circumstances, family farms could be more competitive. Ron Paul also wants to legalize the growing of industrial Hemp. This is Hemp that can't be used for drugs, but has a million uses in industry, such as making rope, clothing, and all sorts of materials. Even George Washington grew Hemp. Why should our nation suffer because we're not allowed to grow Hemp here?

Ron Paul is also an advocate of civil liberties. There has been talk about instituting a national ID for all livestock. The cost of registering would be a big burden for the small farmer who just wants to have a few cows kicking around on the back 40. Not only that, but the government would have an even greater hand in the operation of your farm, subjecting you to random inspections, and requiring you to report if anything happens to any one of your animals. Even poultry would have to be part of this system. So much for that backyard chicken coop.

We, the American farmer, have been the backbone of our nation since it's founding. We have kept our country fed and healthy. However, if we continue on the present path, soon the only farms left in the country will be owned by large corporations, and our way of life will be over. We'll have to hope for a job at a large corporate farm, or else pack up and leave our beloved land and way of life behind.
Please, fellow farmers, join me in promoting the only President who is talking common sense about agriculture, and the only one that will allow us to prosper, and the only one who won't interfere further with our way of life. Vote for Ron Paul.

Report on the Will Work for FREEdom Black Friday

Despite freezing temperatures and an icy northern wind, fourteen Ron Paul supporters from the Rocky Comfort Ron Paul Meetup Group gathered in Neosho, Missouri to support Dr. Paul’s Candidacy on the Black Friday, Will Work for FREEdom Day.
Dividing into groups, we covered highways 60, and 71/59, near the Neosho Wal Mart Super Center.
In the course of two hours, from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. our sign rally attracted the notice of several hundred shoppers, and drivers from Oklahoma and Missouri.
Some of the group was able to distribute flyers and slim-jims to passing drivers.
Dedication marked their efforts.
Young and old, men and women, they sacrificed their time and energy for Ron Paul and the Christian Patriot movement.
Their stance was a living testimony to every passersby, that only one presidential candidate of either major political party is able to inspire his supporters with fervor enough to back him, through heat, rain or snow.
Ron Paul’s integrity has never been impugned or impeached. He is the candidate for every one who believes in the principles of Liberty and the American Way.

Giuliani Comes to Mount Vernon: A Brief Account

The Giuliani motorcade rolled into Mt. Vernon on Monday. Half a dozen Ron Paul Supporters arose to meet him. They were polite and formal and as Giuliani was leaving, he spoke briefly to Candace Turner, the Group Leader.

Mr. Giuliani was asked if he would considered Ron Paul for his vice-president. Mr. Giuliani said that he would not, but that he admired the dedication of the Ron Paul-supporters.

Mr. Giuliani did not draw as large a crowd as his sponsors had hoped. An estimated one-hundred souls, or less, showed up to hear Mr. Giuliani's speech. They seemed
disillusioned by his message, and as upon leaving the building, they were extremely receptive to the flyers, signs and information offered by the Ron Paul Supporters.

Across the street, a man masquerading as Bernard Kerik, former New York
police commissioner who was indicted last week on conspiracy and fraud
charges, held a sign that read “Rudy, Pardon Me.

It has not been determined whether this gentleman was a Ron Paul supporter or not.

This small gathering of Ron Paul supporters made KSPR Channel 33 morning news on Tuesday. They were also mentioned in the Joplin Globe.

This small rally alone may have brought in dozens of potential Republican converts to Ron Paul's cause. We eagerly anticipate the results.

Branson Veteran's Parade Report.

On Sunday, I joined Ken Bridge's Branson Ron Paul Meetup Group and Mike Richardson with some volunteers from the Springfield group. We were about fourteen, in number. A fair number were young people, like myself.

We staked out positions around the congested highways and streets near downtown Branson and held our Ron Paul 2008 and Thank you Veterans signs for the thousands of drivers to see.

We attracted a gread deal of notice, most of it positive. Cars honked, drivers waved, and gave us thumbs-up. Some yelled pro-Ron Paul slogans and told us we couldn't have picked a better candidate to support.

The groups successfully handed out quite a lot of campaign literature. Nita staked out the bridge, and few drivers got past her, without a Slim Jim or a flyer.
I took some video footage of the events which will be uploaded to Youtube, hopefully by this evening.

Ken did a great job of organizing the event in tandem with the Springfield Group. All in all, I'd say we reached more than five thousand people, in a relatively short space of time.
Veterans vote and they ought to know that there a distinguished Veteran of the U.S. Military running for president and his name is not Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney or Fred Thompson.

We can go around the Corporate Media blackout on Ron Paul's Surging Revolution. If we can't go through the Media, then we'll go around them and reach the American People where they stand.

Newton Co. Republicans "Bean Feed"

The featured speaker will be Senate President Pro Tem & candidate for Attorney General Michael Gibbons. The Republican Women of Newton County will be holding their Silent Auction, beginning at 6:30p, and dinner will begin at 7:00p.

County Coordinators for the US Presidential Candidates will speak too.

Understanding the Media bias

More and more of us everyday are learning to see through their tricks, but some still don't get it (yet).

Almost every time I read on a Ron Paul supporter's blog or website how supposedly "positive" a new MSM article about or TV interview with Ron Paul is, and then actually READ or SEE what the MSM has done, I have to wonder when enough of us are going to wake up and realize this:

The Big Elitist MainStream Media is America's #1 Enemy right now.

I know I often repeat this, and I recently have even been criticized by a certain few people online for [to paraphrase] "constantly gnawing this bone that I have to pick with the MSM." But the reason I do is in part because understanding the Media's underhanded role in this election is essential to getting Ron Paul elected. Why you may ask? Goethe answered it best...

"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free."

If you don't see how the MSM is manipulating you, you'll never be free of that manipulation.

I want you to be free, therefore I will continue to point out their deception, and call for the overthrow of their control. If you don't see their manipulations, it will be much more difficult, if not impossible, to free others from that grip, and to achieve our most important short-term goal: To elect Ron Paul as president.

For whatever reason, even people smart & wise enough to realize what an excellent President Ron Paul would make, still refuse to "take the red pill" and see the truth about the media.

To those that don't yet understand, please take time to learn why this is important:

The media is the greatest manipulator of public opinion in America. The media is controlled by a half-dozen or so mega-conglomerates (owning over 90% of all TV channels and almost that high a percentage of newspapers and magazines). Those few that control the media are all of a like mind (not really a "conspiracy" - but more of a general agreement of purpose). That purpose is to gain power, riches and influence, and to maintain the status quo that has rewarded them with these riches beyond all reason. Their purpose is to support their elitist friends, and their elitist agenda, which is to expand their power to the point where one day they control the entire globe (and they are closer to achieving it than you probably think). THAT the reason they do everything possible to thwart Dr. Paul...

Ron Paul isn't controlled by the elite (unlike all the other frontrunner (D) or (R) candidates), and Dr. Paul has proven that he is steadfastly incorruptible for over 30 years. Even worse than the fact that he is "uncontrollable" by the elite, Dr. Paul also will do everything in his power to return to a law-abiding, constitutional government, and to strengthen America in every way... And THAT will not only slow (or perhaps even stop) the elite's plans for a global one-world government (controlled by the few elites, of course), it will also reduce their power, influence, and perhaps even riches! And that is something they cannot abide!

So, through their complete control of the MainStream Media, the orders have gone down through the rank and file of the wannabe-elitists who have sold their soul to their masters: "Do everything you can to undermine Ron Paul's campaign."

First, they tried to ignore him. But with tens of thousands (or more) of tireless grassroots supporters getting Ron Paul's name out in every way possible, ignoring him soon wasn't enough....

Then, they started to attack him. Not "too" openly (with some exceptions), lest their horrible bias become so obvious that even the average entertainment-addled public skool graduate couldn't miss it. But as some of them are actually capable of the art of manipulation, they carefully craft ways to use words and images that turn away people who would otherwise support Ron Paul. Note how most images of him the media uses are not the friendly, kindly-faced man that we know Ron Paul to be, but instead are scowling, angry, or otherwise negative in appearance. And they never miss an opportunity to say "he may have [insert something amazing here - like breaking donation records], but he still can't win." That is an old and devious tactic (wholly unsupported by reason or logic), that unfortunately sinks in to Joe and Jane Average if they hear it enough times - UNLESS we refute it with the truth often enough through our own efforts, and those of Dr. Paul's campaign.

The few hundred super-elites are America's (and all patriot's) worst long-term enemy. It is they who are the generals... The puppet-masters of the MainStream Media. But it is the MSM that is the most dangerous short-term threat, as they are the ground troops battling in the elite's very real war to destroy The United States of America, and create their "New World Order" - with those same unelected super-elites at the top, pulling everyone's strings.

Our would-be puppetmasters will be stopped, eventually. History has proven that all empires must fall - collapsing under their own weight. No amount of technology or crafty intelligence can prevent it. The only question remains: When?

The elites know that a President Ron Paul will derail their plans, that is why they use their MSM to try to prevent it.

And that is why WE must do everything in our power to elect Ron Paul.

This isn't just an election, it is war between the elite and everyone else. We cannot allow ourselves to fail...

Do whatever it takes to beat the MSM in these next few months!

Giuliani Coming to Mt. Vernon

KSPR news has learned that presidential hopeful and Rudy Giuliani is coming to the Ozarks.

The former mayor of New York City plans to come to the Mt. Vernon for an event at the American Legion Hall Monday 11-12.. His Veterans Day visit is scheduled for 2:30 Monday afternoon.
Republican party officials say at least 300 people are expected at the event.

Giuliani is in a tight race for the Republican presidential nomination with Governor Mitt Romney, Senator John McCain, and Senator Fred Thompson..

This week Giuliani has been attending town hall meetings in Iowa. Friday (11-9) Giuliani is speaking in Henderson, Nevada and Saturday (11-10) he’ll be in Loveland, Colorado.

Giuliani has attended five fundraisers in Missouri… all of them in the St. Louis area. This will be his first visit to rural Missouri.

It is the second visit to the Ozarks of a presidential candidate. Mitt Romney held a fundraiser in Springfield October, 2.

Our distinguished Senator from Washington D.C. has, endorsed Giuliani for President.

Kit Bond, naturally heeding the views and best interests of his contributors and friends in D.C. has thrown his considerable weight behind Giuliani's campaign.

As Missourians and Senator Bond's alleged constituents, it is our duty to remind the good senator, that this is America, not Britain or Canada, and in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, there is no such thing as a "safe seat." Another Straw Poll Landslide for Ron Paul

Southwest Missouri is the conservative stronghold in the Show Me State. Its very well known that if you don't win Southwest Missouri, you don't win the state.

On November 1st, voters picked their choice for the Republican nomination for the 2008 Presidential election.

During the last 20 years, every Republican Presidential winner has made a campaign stop in Southwest Missouri (the fastest growing part of the state). Reagan in 1980, 84, Bush Sr. 88, 92, Bush Jr, 2000, 04. Other Candidates that made appearances were Pat Buchanan in 1996 (he Won the Missouri Primary that year); and Matt Blunt the current Governor of the State is from Springfield and has a home in Southwest Missouri.

The results of tonights straw poll show overwhelming support for Texas Congressman, Dr. Ron Paul who received 78% of the vote.

The Corporate Media has expanded their official definition of the term of "Spammer" to include any American citizen who has the audacity to support Congressman Ron Paul in the Republican Presidential Primary.
