Backwoods Magazine Endorses Ron Paul
for President of these United States
By Dave Duffy
"In the 2008 presidential race, one candidate stands so far above all the others that there's no competition. That man is Dr. Ron Paul, running in the Republican primary.
Paul (known as "Dr. No" in Congress for his votes against big government) has a 30-year track record of saying what he means and doing what he says. He's a man of honor and integrity -- and he's the only candidate in the race who understands that the U.S. Constitution sharply limits federal government powers.
He's the only candidate in the race who believes in the rule of law -- and the only one with a long record of sticking to his principles. He has never voted to raise taxes. Never voted for an unbalanced budget. Has never taken a congressional junket. He voted against the Iraq war and the PatriotAct. He won't even participate in the lucrative congressional pension plan.
But don't take my word for how good this man is. Visit Paul's campaign website and watch him on the video clips below. Then get involved, as thousands of others have. The media tries to ignore him. But the fact is that, in the second quarter of 2007, he raised more money than "major" candidate John McCain. He ranks high in straw polls and online polls, and he's got more enthusiastic grassroots support than any candidate in years -- maybe even in decades. Some call him "the last peaceful hope for America." We don't know about that. But we know he's got our support -- and deserves yours.
Defining Liberty The philosophy of liberty is based on self-ownership. The following simple but elegant and hard-hitting animation will explain exactly what that means. It’s a great tool anyone can use to educate children and adults about our right to life, liberty, and the property we create - and our responsibility to think, speak and act. When you hear Ron Paul say that he stands for the Philosophy of Liberty, this is what he means."

Presidential candidate gains support in the Ozarks

by David Catanese, KY3 News
SPRINGFIELD -- You may have seen his signs, or even heard his name, but don't know who Ron Paul is. He's a Republican candidate for president who's shaking up the race by attracting support from disaffected Republicans and Democrats.
Ron Paul is a 10-term Congressman from Texas who ran for president in 1988 as a Libertarian. This time he's running as a Republican. He's used grassroots and net roots to build surprising support in Springfield.

Ron Paul First on the Missouri Ballot
Tuesday was the first day of candidacy filing for the party primary elections on Feb. 5. Candidates who file on the first day draw lottery numbers, with the lowest number winning the right to be listed first on the ballot. That's why Paul will be listed first, even though a representative of Rudy Giuliani was first in line at the secretary of state's office.
Representatives of Republicans Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney and John McCain also filed on Tuesday, as did Democrat Barack Obama.

Peter Gemma interviews Ron Paul.
MANews: Congressman thanks so much for taking time off the campaign trail to visit with the readers of Middle American News. In eleven years of publishing, we've found that while the immigration crisis has dominated the rhetoric of politics, the situation is worse than ever. Are there pragmatic steps that can be taken - immediately - to stem the tide of illegal aliens entering the U.S?
Rep. Ron Paul: First, we need to bring home our border patrol agents we have sent to Iraq and get them back guarding our border. I think it is absurd that we are worried more about the borders of Iraq and Syria than we are about our own. Next, we need to immediately end federal mandates compelling states to give state welfare benefits to illegals. Right now, states are required to provide free medical care, education and sometimes even food assistance to illegal immigrants, and this acts as a subsidy for illegal immigration. Free education and medical care? This is a powerful incentive to come here illegally. Why wouldn't people bring their families here? If we cut off the subsidies, a lot of people here illegally would just leave.
MANews: Do you support the idea of ending birthright citizenship, one of the spoils of war from the invasion of illegals?
Rep. Paul: Absolutely, Peter. I have a bill in Congress right now that would do just that. [Editor's note: Paul's bill, H.J. Res. 46, introduced on 6/13/2007, states that "a person born to a mother and father, neither of whom is a citizen of the United States nor a person who owes permanent allegiance to the United States, shall not be a citizen of the United States or of any state solely by reason of U.S. birth."]
MANews: Is there something Washington should be doing or not be doing that can entice Mexico - a corrupt, socialist basket case - into becoming a responsible neighbor?
Rep. Paul: While we don't have the right to infringe on Mexico's sovereignty and tell them what to do, at the same time, we need to protect our own. That is why I oppose the NAFTA super highway and any sort of "North American Union." We need to have true free markets, and then all of our good jobs wouldn't go overseas. We also need to enforce the law so that employers do not hire illegal workers. Rule of law must be paramount.
MANews: What keeps you hopeful and positive in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds? I'm not just talking about election politics: there are larger issues - Middle American values and ideals - that are at stake. How do we stay relevant, confident, and even optimistic?
Rep. Paul: Well, Peter, this campaign has made me extremely hopeful. When people were trying to convince me to run, they said that there were people out there that would respond to the message of freedom and the Constitution. I was skeptical about how big that remnant was, but it turns out it is bigger than I ever expected. And what has been really great has been the response of young people. People in their teens and twenties have really responded to our campaign and our message, and they are getting involved and convincing their parents to vote for me. This gives me great hope for the future.

Huge turnout for Maple Leaf Parade

Our Ron Paul floats, van and walkers were quite a sight to behold, and our huge number of dedicated workers positively swarmed the crowds watching the parade, handing out flyers, slim-jims, buttons, stickers, candy for the kiddies, and all sorts of great stuff to educate the voters about Ron Paul - the champion of the constitution!
It was a very, very long parade - several miles long - and also fast-moving. Those of us working the crowds had to really run at times to catch up to our floats. (I'm a little sore all over this morning, but it was worth it!) We had over 40 participants in all.
It sure made an impact on the crowds... All these volunteers supporting a politician? Hard to believe! What must that Ron Paul be like?
One of the most encouraging things for myself, was seeing how very interested most of the crowd was in Ron Paul. When I was working behind the float, I could see how people were actually reading the Ron Paul slim-jims and flyers they had just been given to them by people working further forward of the float. I actually saw two different people grab a slim-jim from their friend's hand, saying: "Let ME see that!"
I guess Ron Paul is right... FREEDOM IS POPULAR!
Once people learn what Ron Paul is really about, most will support him. We just have to keep doing all we can to introduce people to Ron Paul, and the rest will follow. We're getting people interested in voting again who gave up on the political process years ago.
We've only got about a dozen weeks before the voter registration deadlines - which are only a month before the election. Time is of the essence!
Some photos are available on the Joplin Meetup site:
http://ronpaul.meetup.com/344/photos/?photoAlbumId=235906
I'm still hoping that someone will please submit photos that show our floats and walkers as we were actually going through the streets and crowds. (It seems like just about everyone with a camera was too busy passing out flyers and getting the word out about Ron Paul, to stop and take photos as they were going. Oh well... Spreading the word is what we were there for, after all!)
UPDATE: 11-07-07 New photos of the parade are available here!
Huge thanks to everyone involved. Our large and well-organized floats certainly made a big impression on the thousands and thousands in the audience.
Success of the MoneyBomb
"My conclusion from this day is 3 fold, 1) grassroots organization works, and if the idea is good and popular it works at an amazing speed and seems to come together almost without effort. 2) The campaign is unaware of these efforts and has no control over them as clearly there would have been great value in allowing the grassroots effort to play out and rest briefly before sending an email which is known to bring out donors. 3) The Ron Paul supporters are far from tapped out."

Support Ron Paul, Stop Giuliani, Save the Republic.
What has been planned and put into motion is the dissolution of the US as we know it and the end of the constitution. You also might want to let all Republicans know that Rudy Giuliani's law firm are the attorneys working for the Spanish company and others in facilitating the superhighway to be constructed and owned by Spain. This highway is already under construction but is being held up by protestors in Texas who do not want to lose their property and businesses in the building of this TOLL highway from Mexico thru the US to Canada. Amongst other things, the plan is to eliminate all borders between the three countries. Goods will arrive in Mexico and be shipped up by Mexican truckers to the US and on thru to Canada.
Speaking on the Larry King show, former Mexican President Vicente Fox confirmed every assertion made by Jerome Corsi in his new book, NY Times bestseller "The Late Great U.S.A: The Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada". Not only did Fox admit that he and George W. Bush have "agreed" to create a common currency, the Amero, he contended that a North American Union is "inevitable".

Apple Butter Makin Days Parade Report
We had a fantastic turnout at the Apple Butter Makin Days Parade this morning. Though I was unable to get a head-count myself, I heard that there were a total of 40 people, both as walkers and drivers/riders, from Meetups in Joplin, Springfield, Benton County and Rocky Comfort.
The line up began with our new Ron Paul "Hope for America" (4ft x 8ft corrugated plastic) sign - provided thanks to Roman - supported by a ten foot long 1" dia. pole held by two nice teens from the Springfield group. Then came Mike's white "Ron Paul Revolution Van" towing the "Liberty" trailer, then came Arthur's Rocky Comfort/Ozarks Voter Pickup float, next was Mel and Jeanette in their classic suicide door MOPAR car, another pickup float from Springfield followed Mel, and lastly, a couple carried a pair of our "Ron Paul Revolution" signs as a double sided sign.
The walkers literally swarmed alongside this entourage handing out slim jims, liberty cards and 2.25" Ron Paul 2008 stickers. It took one hour to complete the parade route! The sidewalks were packed.
The Maple Leaf Parade is supposed to be the grand-daddy of parades in Southwest Missouri. This Saturday in Carthage will be important.

OUTRAGE! Big Media "gatekeepers" Spin yet another poll
http://www.cnbc.com/id/21257762
In a post dated Oct.. 11th 7:21PM ET, Allen Wastler (Managing Editor, CNBC.com) tried to spin the poll shenanigans...
An Open Letter to the Ron Paul Faithful
http://www.cnbc.com/id/21257762
Excerpts:
"...I haven't seen him [Ron Paul] pull those kind of numbers in any "legit" poll. Our poll was either hacked or the target of a campaign. So we took the poll down."

"But you also ruined the purpose of the poll. It was no longer an honest "show of hands" -- it suddenly was a platform for beating the Ron Paul drum. That certainly wasn't our intention and certainly doesn't serve our readers ..."
I guess they don't consider anything that doesn't support their self-annoited frontrunners "legit" - even ones conducted OFF-LINE by county Republican parties - where Ron Paul has dominated.
See: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/straw-poll-results/
I urge you to read between the lines of these shallow platitudes.
1: They didn't like the results they were getting.
2: They were worried that Ron Paul might gain some positive traction from the results.
3: They tried to sweep the results under the rug to serve their elitist masters.
4: They've been swamped with responses from outraged (and hopefully now FORMER) viewers, and are puckering up to our "cheeks" to try to stop the avalanche already in progress.
Folks, this is just typical of Big Media. They want it all their way. They are owned (literally) lock, stock and barrel by the elite few that run this country, and they will do anything to retain their power. They recognize that Ron Paul is a threat to their continued gravy train. And they'll do anything to stop him. Taking down favorable polls is just one of the first steps...
Americans: You need to recognize your true emeny! It isn't the taliban, al-qaeda, the communist chinese, or anything the Big Media tells you to fear... The TRUE ENEMY is the elitist-run BIG MEDIA themselves! The major media (run by less than a dozen companies) have been manipulating you with the aid of, and to the benefit of their elitist masters.
If you don't recognize how serious this is, you need a big wake-up call. Before you dismiss my OUTRAGE here as "extreme" - consider for a few minutes what the Big "MainStream Media" and their elite masters (such as the CFR) are doing to you, and the country you claim to cherish.
If, like many of us, you've taken an oath to protect and defend the constitution of the United States (from enemies BOTH foreign AND DOMESTIC), then you need to re-focus TODAY on your true enemies: The elitists and their propaganda wing... The "MainStream Media."
If you agree with me, then express YOUR outrage to these would-be "gatekeepers" - starting with Mr. Wastler at: politicalcapital@cnbc.com - and continue the fight onward from there...
If you still don't agree with me, don't bother commenting on this to say how it's just a misunderstanding... And I really shouldn't be so reactionary... And I really should calm down... Don't bother doing anything at all. To paraphrase Samual Adams: "We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."
To all other true patriots: Don't relent... Keep the heat on the Media in EVERY way possible. Don't let them sweep Ron Paul under the rug. When (not IF) Ron Paul wins one or more of the January primary elections, big media will go on full-attack mode to ruin Ron Paul. (Don't pretend otherwise - it is THEIR necks that will go to the chopping block if he is elected, and they know it.)
Show CNBC what our "blowback" is... Donate some extra $$$ to Ron Paul TODAY, and show Big Media what a jump in donations Ron Paul gets when they attack him.
Don't forget to join and participate in your local Ron Paul Meetup group. Don't be discouraged by anything your would-be masters on TV tell you - keep getting the truth out about Ron Paul. He SHOULD WIN, and he CAN WIN with our help. DO IT TODAY. For the future of you, your family and loved ones.

Bikes, Blues and Barbecue
Take a few pieces of white and colored chalk--you know, chalk, as in Chalkboard chalk--go somewhere that you know a lot of other people are likely to be, and write "Ron Paul 2008" or any of a thousand other simple ideas onto sidewalk places. Wow! Simple, powerful, effective. Do it!
Now, add thousands of bikers, babes, bikes, biker booths, food, tourists, gawkers, hawkers, music, hot sunny weather, a college town (city) and a ZZ Top concert and your simple little piece of chalk becomes heavy artillery in the infowar.
Add to the simplicity of chalked messages, a dozen activists wearing Ron Paul Tee-shirts and buttons, placing hundreds of "Slim Jims," "Liberty Cards," and "GOA Ron Paul Report Cards" directly into the hands of these people, mano a mano, face to face!
Who wouldn't notice Roman's enclosed trailer with Ron Paul for President painted all over it in huge lettering being towed up and down and all around the event for hours?
Finally, deploy a wide variety of Ron Paul Revolution and other handmade and store bought Ron Paul signage all around the entrance to a ZZ Top concert, directly in the line of sight for the Channel 5 TV news crew and near the KIGL 99.3 FM mobile sound van, and along the main motor routes and parking areas for the concert and you have, in the space of four hours, reached many thousands of potential supporters with the Ron Paul name and message: Hope for America.
Is there any visual image of freedom, and individual liberty more strong and direct than blowin' down a blue route astride a Harley under a warm, sunny, early fall, Arkansas afternoon? Only one presidential candidate was
represented during the Bikes, Blues and Bar-B-Que event--Ron Paul--and he, the only candidate whose platform guarantees the constitutional freedoms and liberty the event esteemed.
October 5, 2007, Bikes, Blues and Barbecue Ron Paul Canvass and Sign Rally--a success. The Rocky Comfort, Benton County and Fayetteville Meetup Groups teamed up to make this one day activity a priority.
Thanks to Bud & Carol Scott for bringing this event to our attention! And, THANK YOU! to all who contributed their time, resources and energy.

Ron Paul raises $5 MILLION in "slow" 3rd Qtr
Cash on hand for the Paul campaign is $5,300,000.
Ron Paul's 114 percent increase is in stark contrast to the decrease suffered by Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, and John McCain. Romney's fundraising was down 29 percent. Giuliani was down 40 percent. McCain was down 55 percent.
http://blog.ronpaul2008.com/ron_paul_2008/2007/10/press-release-t.html
CNN is "Shocked!"
... But we're not. :)
Editor's note: Speaking personally, I've never donated to any political campaign before, but I've donated hundreds to Ron Paul (and plan to donate hundreds more).
We've never had a presidential candidate like him in my lifetime… An honest man with a proven track record.
I encourage everyone to dig deep in your pockets during this next quarter, the MOST IMPORTANT period of fundraising before the primaries begin.
I know I will.
Busted! Jay Nixon Uses His Official State Vehicle to Attend Fundraisers
This is not a partisan issue, however. Governor Blunt and Lt. Governor Peter Kinder are equally free and easy with the taxpayers funds, and state-owned vehicles.
The problem won't go away if one party or the other gains power. More than thirty years ago, George Wallace noted that there was not a dime's worth of difference between the two major parties in America.
Nor can one complain that taxpayer monies are being wasted and then demand socialist programs which will generate an even greater waste of the the taxpayer's hard earned dollars, as Missouri bloggers like KCBlue do.
The problem is the state, and the professional politicians who run it and ourselves, the American people who continue to vote them into power.

MO SUNSHINE MEETING
"You can’t do that!!!"
"Why Not?"
"Just because I said so."
"But the Rules, Laws, Regulations read otherwise," I protested.
"Well, I’m changing them so you can’t do that. And no, I won’t let you see any of the paperwork."
Sound familiar? Has your City, County, School Board, Police Dept., or any other local entity operated by YOUR tax money ever refused you information, over charged you, or did things that you thought were against the good of the people? If so then attend the Public Sunshine Law seminar offered by the MO Attorney Generals Office to be held in Verona MO on October 4, 2007 at 7:00 PM. What???, its FREE, they won’t charge me any money. That’s Right. It’s free, informative and best of all it opens doors to good communication between the citizens and public officials. Please note. This in NOT a “gripe” session, not a “vent your anger” session or any thing of the sort. It is strictly an information seminar, a knowledge dissemination meeting offered by the MO Attorney General’s Staff thru the suggestion of Mr. Haynes of Verona. What’s the catch??? Only that we need to inform the Attorney General of the number of anticipated participates. Two reasons for this. One, they would like to have at least 20 people attend in order to justify the expense of coming down here to put on the seminal, and Second, they need to know how many will attend in order to have enough literature on hand. (And for the city of Verona to make arrangements for tables and chairs as needed). This seminar is open to ALL interested citizens. You don’t have to be a member of any city council, school board or anything of the such but, those of you who are, you also are welcome and encouraged to attend. We encourage anyone, ALL citizens, to attend. Please contact Mike Haynes 417 498 2261 when he is at home or better yet contact Verona city hall in advance and let then know you plan on attending. Contact info for Verona city hall is City Clerk, Kathy Urschel, at 417 498 6725 or email Verona@mo-net.com Hope to see you there. Tell a Friend about this meeting.
